STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! I went in Wednesday night for a beer on my way home from work. I had two bills in my pocket, a $100 and a $50. I took out the $50, bought a bottle of IPA for $3.50, and tipped the brunette bartender $1.50, stuffing the change into my pocket. I finished my beer and went home. Getting ready for bed, I discovered she had given me change for a $20, not a $50! I called their manager, Connie, the next day and she rudely told me the bartender was short $9, not over by $30.
I called and talked to the bartender on Monday. She said she had not taken my money. I suggested that if she did not take it, perhaps she gave my change to another customer or left it in the till. She asked what to do to make it right, offering to refund my $30 in the interest of goodwill. I believe the bartender did not steal the money and was sincere in her willingness to make it right.
Connie was listening in and said, “If he wants to come and get his $30 back, tell him I never want to see him in this bar again.” Hearing that, I told the bartender to keep the $30. I assured her that I will not be back, and that I will advise everyone I know or meet to stay away from this place.
You can definitely find better places to play pool in Vancouver where management cares about their customers and are honest in their dealings – THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. I believe you should TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS TO STAY AWAY FROM JAKES in Vancouver.
