I have been going to this restaurant for many years, and recently started going for breakfasts more frequently over the past 9 months. So far, it has been pretty good.
Today was a totally different story. I ordered their morning special, and the hash browns looked like they had been dry and sitting on the side of the grill for over an hour, with some uncooked crumbled bits thrown on top.. wow... so, I had the waitress take it back, which she did promptly.. she was great.. It comes back completely white, no browning of the Hash Browns, at all.. Yes, it was hot and fresh, but completely not cooked properly. She said, at least it s hot .. I went to the front to pay, and just left it behind.. Told the Front End Manager/Clerk about the story..she could give a rip.. Cut me off during my explanation to say something to someone else, and didn t even look me in the eyes once.. Terrible experience. It will be a while before I try them again... too bad.. It was kind of nice for a while.
Terrible place to work! They cut hours and pay. I know business is slow, but how dare you cut employees pay 15% the same day you buy 3 big screen tvs for the bar. Great place to pick up a hooker if you are into that. Roland that manager will be more then happy to introduce you to her.
Husband & I went 12/31/11. We had dinner, The service was crazy, The waitress were running around like their heads were cut off. No.. it was not that besy. The waitress kept walking by and telling us she would be right with us.After about 10 plus minutes she took our order. I asked for water, also ordered milk w/dinner. we recived dinner i asked for water again. after about half way thru dinner we finally asked again for milk. The service was BAD and the food was nothing to brag about. We wouldnt go there again if they offered free food.
No wonder they want to turn this place into a card room, the food and service are lousy! They recently up-dated the front part of the restaurant, which was much needed. Their sign says it all, half the time it's burnt out, just like the food here.
Being a lifelong local, we used to eat at Oak Tree a couple times a month. We went tonight (10-29-10) and had their special, 12oz Prime Rib (21.95),
It was no better then cafeteria food....prime rib was questionable in it's 12 oz size and was so bland that it left no juicy mark on my plate. In fact, it made NO mark at all and mine was rare.... I thought maybe I could spice it up in the horseradish but alas, that too was tasteless and bland....
I would have asked for straight horseradish in hopes of livening my tasteless meat, but the waitress only reappeared after I had eaten my tasteless, boring, overpriced hospital cateteria meal.
We will no longer do business there. Too bad, they used to be soooo good.
We had ham dinner there Easter Sunday. Wife and I both had baked potato, but it was luke warm. Had the waitress made an appearance, we would have complained. Soup was good, salad was fair. Ham portion was generous and good, which was the best part of the whole meal.
Also served broccolli (which I don't like; wish I had either thought to ask or the waitress would have been more informative. Ugh!) The center section is where dishes are collected, and also houses an ice machine. We sat just on the other side from that, and it started up about halfway through. Quite noisy. A family with three noisy young kids came in later and sat two tables away. Can't blame the Oak Tree for that but cold food and innattention is inexcusable.
It will be a while before we return. Defininitely a downturn for them.
I have lived in Woodland and ate at the Oak Tree all my life. I used the eat there a lot, but now I don't eat the the Oak Tree unless I am forced to (like a meeting there). Now there are again new owners (about a year ago) and it is 100% awful. If you do go there, only order a salad, hamburger or a plain steak with a plain baked potato.
Soups are so incredibly spicy that you can't eat them, the gravy on the mashed potatoes is some type of tastless salty thick pasty goop. Never ever order the Chicken Marsala, for it is just the gravy goop over noodles. Even the famous Oak Tree Chicken Vienna is now Mystery Vienna. The cakes that look so good are tastless artificial cardboard. It is just plain bad, and expensive for what you get. Last time I was there (for a meeting last week) there was nobody in there eating, so that tells you a lot.
I wish they would get a good cook, or heaven forbid a chef and make simple good food, then the people in this town would start to go there again.
