Good food. Nice people. OK service. Comfortable atmosphere. La Tarasca exists in an old filling station/ diner with windows on three sides. The tables and chairs are wooden, and the chairs are brightly painted in primary colors. There are 10 to 12 tables. The ceiling in decorated nicely. This is family owned business and local families come here to eat. La Tarasca offers authentic mexican food. I had three types of tacos, a tostada, and a chili relleno. I enjoyed them all. I sampled the Carnitas and found them to be tastey too. Expect to pay $7.50 to $11.00 for an entre`. The bathrooms were clean, but the chairs could use a cleaning. I recommend La Tarasca for simple dinning. Oh yeah, its is close to the highway. Take exit 81, right on Mellen. Left on Yew (side street). Right on Main. It will be on your left.

This is the BEST Mexican food in the Centralia/Chehalis area. Very authentic, not like franchise restaurants. Most of the others in town have the same food I could get in a frozen meal, only WAY more expensive. LaTarasca has home cooked food with lots of flavor and wonderful "family" feel. We always get welcomed like we're long lost friends and they remember what we like to eat and drink.

My family and I have been going to LaT for years - Mercedes and her sisters, and everyone that works there make you feel so welcome. If you're a first timer to La Tarasca definitely order the carnitas (the house specialty). The mild pork melts in your mouth and the homemade tortillas are the best around. If you're adventurous and like heat, order the chile colorado (made the way it's supposed to be made, with chiles). All of their soups are flavorful, and you cannot go wrong with an adobado taco or pork tamale. My daughter first started eating the child's cheese quesadillas with the best refried beans and rice (she's since graduated to carnitas). No matter what you end up ordering, save room for flan! Remember, they're closed on Tuesdays, but call ahead because it is a family business, they work so hard all year long they need to take a break every once and a while.

Godlike. Utterly. Chile verde and chicken mole are both not be be missed, so order both. Not just the best Mexican food you'll ever eat, perhaps the best FOOD you'll ever eat.

This place offers different choices then the standard Mexican restaurant. Healthy choices and great tasting salsa! All the ingredients are fresh and dishes are made to order.

fabuloso! My husband and I both grew up in southern California and recentlky moved to Portland Oregon. We lament the lack of good mexican in the Pacific Northwest. La Tarasca wonderful. The mole and the Chile Verde are to die for. I would highly recommend it.
