Cliff House Rstrnt & Guido's, Tacoma

Nice view of the mountain if it is out but food and service a letdown. We have been there on and off for the last 40 years and cannot recommend this current version. I live there so the view is probably better than a 6th Ave street but a working port is nothing special. Overprice mediocre food and snippy service. Go to Duke's on the Tacoma waterfront for better seafood and consistent service.

Fantastic! I can hardly wait until we can go again. Yes, it's pricey, so you have to decide if you are feeling like you can afford it but seriously, especially for a special occasion it's awesome. Great views..which we were a little worried because it had been stormy and rainy that day but we actually got to witness a rainbow. The server said there was no extra charge for this ;) Three of us had the copper river salmon and one had the rib eye steak...sooo good! We had the artichoke dip appetizer with little crispy rounds and after we all shared the pear tart. Such a treat! They did not hurry us along so we had a wonderful visit with our friends from Portland. There is a bar downstairs that we have yet to check out so that might be a good excuse to return sooner than later!

The Cliff house has been reopened for two months now and this was our first visit. This was a very special day for my family. Mothers Day for my wife and Graduation day from University of Puget Sound for our Daughter. Our family has eaten at each of the Restaurants on Rustin way and they were OK. Not impressive just OK. The Cliff House impressed us. The views are the best I have ever seen of Commencement Bay. 5 stars. The attention from the staff also rates 5 stars. Now to the meal. The food was the Best I have been served in years. For the first time I now know what melt in your mouth truly means. The 16 oz Prime Rib was truly melt in your mouth good. My Son and I both rated it as 5 stars. My lovely wife had the Fettuccine Neptune and rated it as 5 stars. Our daughter chose Halibut stuffed with Crab. She was the only one to leave without a doggie bag. We all had to have more than one taste. 5 stars. Thank you Cliff House and staff for making our special day even more special.

This place is now closed. Website is down. Too bad, this area needs a good restaurant with consistent service and inventive food.

Stopped here on our way back home after visiting from CA. Even in California you get better service which surprised us since this place had such a nice view. We felt ignored by our waitress.....she didn't come around to see what we needed which would have been nice. We come up to Seattle/Tacoma alot and won't go back here. Our food was too expensive and very tasteless.

in short? DON'T BOTHER. we went to the cliff house with a $100 gift certificate. we got 2 lobster cakes for $14 (!) which were good, but small. my husband's dinner was pretty good but mine (thai seafood) was BLAND-i can make better peanut sauce at home! our bill came to about 80 bucks (waaaaay too much for mediocre food) and when the waitress came back with our bill, she said that they were under new management and could only honor 40 % of the certificate. i told her that we were NOT paying the difference, since it was issued by their restaurant and they needed to honor it. she talked to the manager and he said that he would honor it, but we lost twenty bucks of it because we didn't use the whole hundred and they would not give us change or another certificate--which does not matter, since we would not go back anyway. our waitress, unfortunately, will have to count that extra twenty as her tip. the view is amazing but the restaurant isn't. someone who knows how to run a restaurant could make a wonderful place out of this, but i am sure they will be out of business within a year with these new managers.

NEVER GO HERE! I tried to eat dinner there last saturday and all they did was screw up order after order. I waited for two and a half hours for food that never came and then once I canceld my order, it took them another 20 minutes to get the bill for the food that did come. This is a terrible place to eat, please don't waste your time or money at this place.
