I ve taken both my dogs to Best Friend s a couple times. I feel they are the best vet I ve found in Oak Harbor. They are friendly, compassionate, patient, clean, and thorough. They spend the time to listen and do what s best for your pet, and they explain things well to the owners. I feel like they had the opportunity to add unnecessary tests but did not. When I leave, I feel like my dog and I were well taken care of and that gives me peace of mind.
I felt compelled to write a review for Best Friends because so far the reviews don't reflect the service I've always received from them...which is nothing short of outstanding. I've been going to Best Friends since we got our dog (American Staffordshire) in 2005, we moved away for 3 years in 2008 but we went back to them after coming back in 2011. The staff at Best Friends is always friendly and welcoming, they call my dog by his name which makes me feel like they care about my pet. The vet is always caring, knowledgeable and efficient. I agree with some of the reviews that they charge a lot, the vet bills is always expensive but I know that Best Friends is AAHA accredited which means they are practicing at the highest level of excellence in Veterinary care, they go through a great deal to become accredited and so they charge more than others out there. I went to an AAHA accredited hospital in FL too and they charged about the same. I don't know about anyone else, but I want the best care for my dog, he's a member of my family and if I can, I'd pay for the best vets for him. Thanks Best Friends for being the best at what you do, for taking care of my pet!
I would not trust this vet clinic again for anything. I took my dog there for his vomiting and they said it was normal for pomeraians. 3 days later he could not eat or drink and passed away that night. I lost my best friend because they would not look into why my dog was sick.
My mother used this vet for awhile before switching to one in Coopeville. After 10 years, we returned to this vet a few weeks ago. We will say that our dog got good care, but the pricing is very high. We really felt like their desire to charge the most they can for everything is their number one priority, and healing your sick pet takes second place with them. We were joking that soon they will be charging for parking in their lot, just to make another buck. We will be returning to the vet in Coopeville who is just as good, and less expensive.
They are a great vet but we have two dogs and four cats. We cant afford there prices way too expensive...We were going to have our 9 month old lab fixed there. They told me it was going to be 215.00 for laser surgery. I thought that wasnt too bad considering it was being done with a laser. Brought him to the clinic for them to tell me that if my dog wanted to be put to sleep it was going to be another 70 bucks!! Im kinda thinking my dog dont want to be awake for that! Im sure he would of been pissed as hell at me. Then they told me that I needed antibotics and pain medication for another 75 bucks. I walked out went to North whidbey vet clinic and it cost 95.00 with meds and gas to put him to sleep. Much more cost effective there and great vets as well for a much more affordable price. I love best friends I just cant afford there prices so we have had to switch to a vet thats just as good as them.
All of the Dr.'s and staff at Best Friends Animal Clinic are extremely friendly and really treats your pets as their own. They explain everything in detail and really understand the animals' needs. I'm so happy to have found them!
