Its a breakfast place. I wouldnt order a ceaser salad or fish n chips. As far as breakfast...its great. though the original tie to the seattle one are long gone.
Some of these reviews are like someone going to a mexican restuarant and then reviewing the hamburger that they ordered.
Horrible horrible horrible ordered medium rare steak came out well done. Recooked another came out wrong again. Steak was tough as nails and tasteless. Worst meal I have had in a decade. Fried shrimp and onion rings were very dark brown and way over cooked they used dirty old oil. They forgot my corn on the cob until half way through my meal a second time around. Corn cob kernels were sooo old and dry they were dimpled in tasted like yellow starch and tough. They will be out of business in this location soon as the locals will not be coming around. Do yourself a favor do not eat here. Very nice waitress but she did not know how to serve she did her best. My wifes turkey dinner she said the gravy was packaged and not very good she would also never eat there again.
Since Patty's Eggnest is a Seattle institution, we decided to pull off I-5 on our way north and try out the new Island Crossing location. We were being sat at a very small corner and I asked the server (who did not speak English) for another table, and she laughed, which I thought was odd as we were only one of four tables that were going to be occupied when we were there.
My food was lousy at best. I ordered the bbq swiss burger that was cold, with processed cheese and the worst, I am talking the WORST potato salad I have ever had in my life! I would rather eat that crud in the plastic container from Costco than what Patty's was trying to pass off as good... The sandwich barely had any bbq sauce on it, and the waiter came by once for beverage service. The other two at the table had mediocre breakfast items that were also served on the cold side, which was odd seeing that we were in before any rush.
What happened next has soured me on the Island Crossing location. As I was treated to lunch from a friend, when she gave them her debit card, she left a ten percent tip, which was on the low side as the service and the food was poor. Well, today she checked her bank statement and it seems the workers at Patty's Eggnest wanted a bigger tip and signed an additional two dollars on the bill after it was signed for a lower amount. This is theft, pure and simple...
Check your card transactions folks as it seems the staff wants more. Avoid this location.
My wife and I were looking to grab a late breakfast and decided to try the New Patty's Eggnest on Hwy 530 just off the I-5 exit. This used to be O'briens Turkey House. We noticed when we drove up that the lot was full and being Valentines Day we thought there might be a wait. No wait at all and the staff was quick to get us seated even though it was nearly full. I ordered the 11oz Chicken Fried Steak, eggs over medium, hashbrowns, biscuit and a side of corned beef hash. My wife had Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast. Our order was taken quite quickly and had coffee served almost as soon as we sat down. After our order I asked to keep the menu to look it over. I was surprised when I was asked by three different wait staff to see if I had already had my order taken. WOW! At most places, the waitstaff is almost afraid to check on someone elses table or gets attitude if you ask. Coffee was kept topped off and the staff was VERY attentive. Food arrived in good time and looking around I could see some great food. My Chicken Fried Steak was the best I ever had hands down. While in Houston I hunted for a great Chicken Fried Steak over Christmas and none came close to this. Hand battered and tender with lots of gravy and I actually could cut it with a fork. Three eggs over medium were done right. Now here's the twist..Corned Beef Hash was the REAL DEAL. Not from a can. Ground/shredded corned beef with diced potatoes and very tasty. At 43yrs old I can honestly say it was a first. Every restaurant/cafe visit I had before was a canned version of this dish. Nice job guys. Biscuit was not large but was split and placed on the grill to slightly toast which gave it a buttery taste and warmed it nicely. Jam (Blackberry and orange marmalade) was in jars on the table and not in sealed plastic pods. My wifes dish looked good. Scrambled eggs cooked right and the bacon was thick cut and smokey. The hashbrowns looked fresh and were not frozen blocks thrown on the grill. I thought it looked over cooked but it was actually tender and meaty.
Overall a great experience and I is now my #1 pick for breakfast. Fast, friendly service. Clean and pleasant atmosphere. Sorry Best Cafe, Ellies, Bluebird and Dons.
My friend and I went there for lunch yesterday, arriving around 11:30, and we shall NEVER go back. To start with our silverware was still dirty. (It should of been a clue to leave.)
My friend ordered the fish and chips, with a side salad. The salad was very wet. They certainly could of used a salad spinner to dry the lettuce. The french fries were overdone, as was the fish. The tartar sauce looked like it had been dished up the night before as it had a film on it that my friend scooped off with her spoon. She then decided not to even try the tartar sauce, as she was uncertain as to how long it had been sitting out.
I had ordered the patty melt, and it was a disaster. Someone did not bother to peel the onion before slicing it and grilling for my patty melt. I was pulling numerous grilled onion skins out of my sandwich. I mentioned it to the waitress, and she said she could bring me more onions if I wanted. I ate about half of the sandwich and that was it. My fries were also well done, they were like little sticks! Then to top it all off, a young man came in and started vacuuming around the tables, not with a vacuum, but with a shop vac!
I go out to enjoy my lunch, not to listed to a shop vac, or to pull onion skins from my patty melt. The service was slow and the meal was terrible. This is a place to avoid at all times.
