Birthday gone bad
By Think about it, 6/12/07
last year I asked my husbond to take me to to Palisade for my Birthday we had gone the year before for the Brunch it was great they put rose petals on the table the food was good, the eggs a little over cooked but not bad. So I wanted to go back he set the reservation up 2 days prior for 6pm He asked for a table by the window. When we seated at a table 4 away form the window I did not say a thing the restaurant was not full by any means lots of open tables left by the window. We had a waiter that also had a large top. My husbond and I are both chefs we know how food should look, taste, and long it takes to make. We told the waiter that we are in the industry and wanted a good meal. Well the appatizer was wonderful but vary small for the amount we paid. We orderd the wild Boar and a special tuna flown in just for them from Hawaii. The waiter was ever so attentive to the large top but forgot us. Our food was brought to us but had that glazed look from setting in the window to long. That was fine for the Boar but the fish was over cooked( tuna should not be well done medium tops but thats pushing it ) and the sauce was brocken and the dish was also luke warm. I was mad at this point we told the waiter and he did not seam to care just shruged his sholders took the plate and walked away. My husbond shared the Boar with me we must haved looked cheep eating off of one plate. later the waiter came back and offerd the normal buy off of dessert I did not want to take it but we were hungry and only had enough food for one. So we took the overly sweet icecream that was also only made for Palisade I took only two tastes one to try it and the other to make my husbond feel a little better. We got out so late from the restaurant we did not even have time to go to McDonalds I was so hungry.

Dante's Inferno 7/11/07
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/13/07
Been to Palisade many times over the years. Sometimes service can be hit or miss. Last night (7/11/07) was most assuredly as miss. Took fiancé for her b’day @ 7pm and low and behold no a/c in the place. Outside temp 90+ F. Inside was approx 82F. Did not give much thought to the heat as we entered as you cannot really expect the entryway to be that cool given the outside temp. Once seated, it became apparent that the AC was non existent. I inquired to our waiter about the AC and he claimed he did not know there was a problem. This was definitely going to require some tequila as I am not fond of being played for a fool. We ordered, food was good, that is never really a problem at Palisade. I spoke with a busser on the way to the restroom and made the same inquiry about the situation and the reply was that they were not aware of the problem. Hmm let’s see, employees working in an establishment that is consistently 68F every day of the year and the do not even perceive a problem. I am not a big fan of employee ignorance so I am a tad bewildered at this point. Upon exiting the restroom, I asked the hostess why am I feeling like I am having stroke or hot flashes. At this point, I am feeling restored in humanity as she informed me the AC had not been working ALL day. Although pleasant, she did seem like she was being asked this all evening and offered to get the manager. My reply was no need and that I could write the owner at a later date. The manager did come to the table and make apologies and asked for some “human understanding”. I smiled without comment and we continued to finish dinner. Looking around the room I could see may people fanning themselves as the beaded perspiration was flowing to the skin surface. It was a lost cause of an evening. What is so dismal about this situation was that at no time did staff offer to explain the situation PRIOR to seating anyone. Additionally, it is clear that the manager is not really one to provide leadership to her staff. A minimally skilled Red Robin manager would have gathered the staff or posted an FYI on how to respond to the situation. As a side note, I took a client to lunch one Saturday at Maggie’s Bluff (the burger place adjacent to Palisade and owned by the same company). At that occasion, we were seated in a booth that was under some pipes being snaked out by a plumber while we were eating. Not only was the noise horrendous but the thought of plumbing activities overhead was unappetizing. Guess what? The SAME Palisade manager came down to see what all the customer complaining was about. I have serious doubts as to this woman’s skill-set in managing difficult circumstances. Well, at least she may have a shot in local politics.

Loved the swordfish. Service not so much. View does it's job daily so hey can't really rate that except to say-Way to go God. The lentils with the swordfish made the dish and a good glass does not hurt either.

Romantic, great ambiance, amazing dessert
By Margaret, 10/1/05
I had a very romantic dinner there, however the food left a lot to be desired. The quality of the entrees was unbefitting a restaurant of this caliber. After dining, it was clear that the price of the meal was spent more on the view and ambience (both of which were amazing), than it was on the food itself. I must say though, the dessert was spectacular. We got the chocolate lovers plate, that included chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate mousse, a delicious mocha creme brulee (the best I've ever had!) and a chocalate decadence cake, that was literally orgasmic. Overall, I recommend it for a romantic event, but there are better places to go if you are looking for excellent food.

Not as good as the shoe museum
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/31/06
I really enjoyed the food but I've got to say, it does not come close to the experience I felt inside the shoe museum in Toronto.
