I was in town attending a conference, and brought my dear wife along, and wanted to go someplace 1) special; 2) Northwest-oriented. I travel extensively, and we live in Philly, with great high-end restaurants, so our expectation level was high. Palisade was recommended by the concierge at the Renaissance hotel (thanks, Jean-Paul).
They sent a complimentary Town car to pick us up at our hotel. The restaurant's appearance was first rate, with low noise levels and an open, spacious feeling. The view was great. The service was excellent; our server was very knowledgeable about the wines, the food, etc. Water was refilled promptly, and small spills of sauce were noticed were attended to. Plates and utensils were removed and replaced as needed. Very continental in attention to detail.
The Pu-Pu tower (half order for the two of us) was an excellent starter. The Dungeness crab cakes were very good (my wife's from Maryland, so again, the standards were high). We had King and Copper River salmon, both cooked medium-rare, as requested. The dessert was the chocolate mousse cake, another winner. I also had the Port sampler, where again our server Bob had great information to share.
If I had any complaint it was that the "off menu" Copper River salmon special was not priced when it was described. It was about double of most other entries, and perhaps not completely worth that price. I also note that the menu items were fairly straightforward, nothing "over the top" or avant-garde, but I'll take an properly prepared salmon any day. Everything we had was "spot on".
I would highly recommend this place as an excellent evening, with a combination of the view, the service, and the food. I understand that one could get lost finding the place (thanks for the round trip car service!), but get out your GPS and make the trip. Very well worth it.
