Salty's on Alki Beach
Located on Elliott Bay with sweeping views of the Seattle skyline, Salty's is "One of the world's great view restaurants," says a local critic. This restaurant wins annual awards for the Nation's Best Sunday brunch, Seattle's best seafood, best view restaurant, best outdoor dining. Whether dressed up or casual, in the dining room, on the deck, or in private dining rooms, guests love Salty's for fresh Northwest seafood, wild Alaskan salmon and halibut in season, live Dungeness crab, fresh Northwest oysters, clams and mussels, USDA prime charbroiled steaks, gourmet lunch salads and sandwiches and refreshing creative cocktails. Live music in the Cafe-Bar Mondays and Fridays. Happy Hour from 3:00 to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday, Cafe-Bar only.
Salty's is like RedMill Burgers. Its rep carries much further than the actual food. Salty's is literally salty and among the discerning Seattle restaurant-goers lost its premier positioning long ago. Prices are good and the view is superb so that can get distracting (like the Space Needle) but close your eyes and taste the food and you'll get it. Try Waterfront or Palace.
Visited Seattle for business from Oregon. We both former 30-year residents of Seattle and my husband has traveled world wide. Went there on 4/12/06 and were seated on patio. We changed table due to wind and cold and waitress (Ruthie) was VERY RUDE about it and RUDE while serving us. Basically her attitude was snobbish (Fyi, we were dressed as well or better than other patrons there and very polite to her) Took forever to get served. Food was arrived cold, sloppy presentation, poor taste, halibut overcooked and very little of it and expensive. Bonus points, Ruthie did not even offer us a dessert menu. WILL NEVER GO BACK AND WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!!
This restaurant was recommended by a colleague as a 'must go' when we visited Seattle. I went to Y! Local and noticed that this restaurant was best of in multiple categories on bestof.yahoo.com. I made reservations via the Opentable 'make a reservation' link on Y! Local; I mentioned I wanted a table by the window to have a dining experience with a view on Seattle. Checked!!! We had the perfect table in the most amazing restaurant with the most amazing view and the most amazing dinner and wine. I will always remember it!
All Salty's restaurants are unique, pricey and the food is top notch. Salty's on Alki is the shining star, and the jewel of Alki beach. Superb view of Seattle across the Sound. Ambiance is wonderful inside and out. Valet parking.
It is a wonderful place for seafood and Washington wines, not to mention the amazing view of the Seattle skyline. It's versatile place, you can go casually or for a special occasion. They also have a great weekend brunch.
