Ruby Restaurant, Seattle

I see where the previous reviewers are coming from...but in my opinion...Ruby is worth it. The service is pretty disappointing, I must admit. Although the last time I went there..about a week ago, the waiter was very attentive and I had no problems. The really redeeming quality about Ruby is their food. I get the #20 which is a yellow curry, rice, chicken, potatoes, and carrots bowl. It is to die for if you're a fan of yellow curry like I am. It is really reasonably priced (7.50 for the #20) for all of their food. The carrots tasted like candy and everything is excellent quality. If you don't mind mediocre service, and waiting half an hour to get your food, then it is well worth your time. Atmosphere is nice too! (Tealight candle on your table...low lights, mis-matched tables and chairs, and huge mirrors)

Terrible food there. I had the worst indigestion for two days after eating their food. They only had one server there as well which didn't made for quick service..we ordered coffee and only got one cup the whole time we were there. Nice atmosphere though.

Inundated by yup of the wannabe-hippie sect. Food tastes good but you may pay for it on the toilet. Service is a tedious hassle for the waiter, and he helps you know it. It's a priviledge, or so they think, that you are allowed to eat there. Lame clientele.

I've been eating lunch at the Ruby Restaurant for many years. It's my favorite place in the U District. The menu is varied, the food is consistently good (with lots of veggie options), the portions are generous, the ambiance is pleasant, and the service is just fine if you're planning on a leisurely lunch.

I like this place because it has a good atmosphere and is rarely overcrowded. It is possible to talk - not shout - with your friends. It also has good drinks and good food for reasonable prices, and is less full of smoke than many of the near-by bars.
