Outstanding organic local sustainable food. I have been for breakfast and lunch, but they are not open for dinner. The food is very good, inventive and the presentation is very nice. The atmosphere is simple. Well worth the visit.

Brunch With Gluten-Free Options
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/15/10
Wonderful Brunch place. Gluten-free options (more than one!) that includes pancakes. A great topping bar for your pancakes that has lots of good quality fruit along with sweeter options, and a commitment to local and natural ingredients. It is a little bit crowded of course, but worth the wait.

Portage Bay Cafe has the BEST BREAKFAST in town. If there is a line, WAIT! It is worth it. Food is ample and delish! Pricing is okay - but you do get a lot of food for your money.

Eh
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/23/08
Now some people are absolutely in LOVE with this place. I haven't gone so far. I appreciate their healthy ingredients and their support of locally grown produce. They do have a wonderful breakfast bar in which you can get unlimited fruit, syrup, jam, butter, etc... But beyond their breakfast, I haven't found their lunch to be anything beyond "eh." Perhaps I'm just not sophisticated enough to appreciate whole tuna and hard rolls for sandwich bread...

every meal I have had here has been spectacular. brunch is definitely a favorite in both their sweet and savory options. the bananas foster french toast (three slices of challah french toast bathed in homemade caramel and organic banana chunks) is an indulgence but dear god it is worth it. the omelets are great as well and the lunchtime sandwiches always aim to please. crowded, yes, but there is definitely a good reason why.

The sweets outshine the savory items at breakfast, especially when including the trips to the fruit bar (including maple syrup, whipped cream and nuts), but all dishes are wholesome, mostly made with organic ingredients and by and large delicious. Expect a wait during peak hours.

The brunch crowds that wait for the wonderful, local and sustainable brunch menu are never disappointed.

Fantastic brunch menu, the best in Seattle, but be prepared to wait outside, it's crowded!
