I've been here couple times with friends. It's WAY TOO overpriced and they really don't give you much. Some of the fish looked really unappetizing, like it was going bad. In any case, the food isn't worth the money. Plus, the place is SO cramped!!
Maybe if you just need a central place to meet a friend this would be an ok place. The decor and service are lacking. However the fish was of good quality. I would not recommend taking a date here at all.
Living in Tacoma, where there is very little in the way of great sushi (Fujiya's really being the only really good stuff, but rather pricey)...whenever I am in Seattle and have the chance...this is my top choice for sushi. I swear the wasabi is hotter there than anywhere I've ever been, but the sushi chef always laughs when I say that and says it's no different. Overall flavor, freshness, and value make this my favorite place. It's only rival used to be Nikko at the Westin. They used to have a great all you can eat for lunch that was the best value ever.
Hana is an excellent choice for those with a tight pocketbook. In my lean years, hana got me through some rough times. Only place where you can still get $2 sushi at reasonable quality. I loved the atmosphere too.
Seattle's gotten so shishi in the last 10 years, it's nice to know there are still restaurants that have maintained their authenticity and atmosphere through all the change.
The food is always fresh at Hana and it's affordable, the portions are reasonable, and the staff are Japanese, and so are many of the patrons. That's always a good indication for me!
It's also kid friendly! Our kids love to go there:-)
I had a chance to live in Japan as a young man. I have loved many things Japanese since that time and the food and liquor are always sublime. Americans like to do everything big so if a little flavor is good then a lot of flavor must be better. Not so in Japan the flavors that are the most intense might be those which are most sublime. Hana does everything right and has all the Sake too. The owners are always working the kitchen and sushi counter and making sure that everything Hana serves is done well. The prices are all fair and so you get a much better experience because the food quality is great and the price is moderate so that means you get a really good deal.
