The sushi at Hana is just as good as the sushi I had in Japan! In my opinion, this is the best Japanese restaurant in Seattle in terms of food quality and value.

Maybe if you just need a central place to meet a friend this would be an ok place. The decor and service are lacking. However the fish was of good quality. I would not recommend taking a date here at all.

good sushi and unpretentious
By ,
Seattle's gotten so shishi in the last 10 years, it's nice to know there are still restaurants that have maintained their authenticity and atmosphere through all the change. The food is always fresh at Hana and it's affordable, the portions are reasonable, and the staff are Japanese, and so are many of the patrons. That's always a good indication for me! It's also kid friendly! Our kids love to go there:-)

Good for what it is!

Hana is an excellent choice for those with a tight pocketbook. In my lean years, hana got me through some rough times. Only place where you can still get $2 sushi at reasonable quality. I loved the atmosphere too.

Waste of money
By ,
I've been here couple times with friends. It's WAY TOO overpriced and they really don't give you much. Some of the fish looked really unappetizing, like it was going bad. In any case, the food isn't worth the money. Plus, the place is SO cramped!!

the hottest wasabi, the freshest fish!! the best
By ,
Living in Tacoma, where there is very little in the way of great sushi (Fujiya's really being the only really good stuff, but rather pricey)...whenever I am in Seattle and have the chance...this is my top choice for sushi. I swear the wasabi is hotter there than anywhere I've ever been, but the sushi chef always laughs when I say that and says it's no different. Overall flavor, freshness, and value make this my favorite place. It's only rival used to be Nikko at the Westin. They used to have a great all you can eat for lunch that was the best value ever.

capital hill institution

Lots of good sushi in town, but when you are up on Capital Hill. Hana can't be beat. Great central location, good sashimi.

The best cheap sushi in any city.
By ,
Hana is my favorite sushi place in Seattle - not because of the food itself, which is quite good and always fresh, but because of the cheapness and value. The ambiance and atmosphere are not the greatest, and there can be long waits, but you can't get better cheap sushi. Sure, there's much better and fresher sushi in Seattle, but I learned to eat sushi at Hana, because I could try everything on the menu and not overtax my budget. Parking on Capital Hill can be an issue, and the lines can sometimes be long to get in. But I make sure to stop there every time I visit my hometown of Seattle from the Bay area where I live now.

Cheap but Great!
By ,
This little sushi spot is a great value, especially compared to bigger establishments like I Love Sushi. The nigiri was excellent and fresh as were all the rolls. The rice (for he rolls) was not to soft and not too hard. A whole meal for $10 and it was really quite good!
