Description

Place Pigalle specializes in seasonal menus combining local ingredients with a variety of culinary traditions. The resulting dishes "always have been artful, always entertaining, always fresh...disarmingly successful." Couple such critical acclaim with a wonderful Elliott Bay and Olympic Mountain view, an award-winning wine list and a bar that specializes in the unusual and you have the reasons for this Pike Place Market restaurant's success.

My boyfriend and I went to Place Pigalle for his birthday recently. I had spent days and days determining which restaurant to take him to - and based on the description I finally chose Place Pigalle (also had La Spiga and Zoe in mind, they were the 'runners up'). My review: I'm overwhelmingly sad that we ended up going to Place Pigalle, it was horrible. I had called the restaurant early in the day to confirm a window seat, and asked that they put a candle in my boyfriend's dessert - to which the person on the phone said 'Yes, no problem - we'll do that' - but when we arrived our window table was taken. It took ten to fifteen minutes for the person at 'our' table to leave so we just stood there. I mentioned to the hostess/wait person that we were told we had a window table (she said upon our arrival - 'you can wait for a window table or we can seat you somewhere else now') who's response was cold, bordering on downright rude. She said 'I'm offering you the window, but you will have to wait.' 'Or, I can seat you now.' - From there it was downhill. It's really a shame, too, because the food itself was excellent. The service was overwhelmingly slow, the table by the window froze us out. The restaurant does not have ample heating to accommodate guests this time of year - or if it does, they're not turning it up. My boyfriend (in a shirt and sweater) and I (in a small'ish sweater and skirt) both froze. That wouldn't have been so bad but the stretch from our dinner salad to the entree arriving was over 25 minutes. The meal itself was wonderful, in terms of the way it was prepared, presentation, taste. We loved the main course, the appetizer and salads were good too. The clincher was when, at the end of the night - after sitting there (again way too long) and having a different server ask us how our dinner was - we ordered the cherry torte dessert and coffee, were told there was no 'soy' for our coffee (just heavy cream, c'mon! ... come in to the 20th century ... people in Seattle are *not* dairy fanatics, we like alternates like soy, rice, almond, etc.) - back to my point. The dessert arrived COLD (way too cold, just taken from a sub zero), with more heavy cream (no ice cream) - even though we told the waiter we didin't want it - and guess what? NO CANDLE. It the perfect cold ending to a freezing night, and the flavor suffered... it was to cold to taste. These things may seem small to the restaurant, but they were huge us. When we go out for a special occasion, especially THIS one (I rarely get to treat my boyfriend, I wanted it to be perfect) - it really ruined our night to have to deal with these things. I was upset, my boyfriend could tell, he wanted me to have fun, I wanted him to have fun, we did in the end look each other in the eye and have a nice evening just being together (smiles did occur) but it felt wrong to pay so much for such a let down ($150 for two, with one glass of wine). I felt really ripped off. It was a precious night in our lives, and it was a three hour flop with regard to Place Pigalle. I am going to warn friends and family about Place Pigalle. It's not suitable for patrons this time of year, the lack of attention and regard from the servers is very disappointing. We'll probably never go back but if we do, it'll be on a warm sunny summer afternoon (for lunch) or in the evening when we know it'll still be warm out - AND, at a time when sitting around waiting for hours is no big deal. I'm probably going to copy/paste this review in to the restaurant review sites (yelp, citysearch, etc.) around Seattle. I don't wan't anyone else to have to go through this, especially not on a special occassion. We all work too hard for our time and money to be wasted this way. :) Thanks for listening, hope your dining experiences are bright. Happy holidays! xo

Place Pigalle has great service, amazing food, and the price was very reasonable. I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt compelled to comment on my visit to this great restaurant. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, the wine list is impressive, and the French Onion Soup was the best I have ever had. My husband and I agree, there is nothing more romantic than great wine and delicious cuisine over candle light and view of the Seattle waterfront. Place Pigalle has quickly become my favorite restaurant in Seattle and I won't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. I can hardly wait to go again.

My wife and I went to Place Pigalle for dinner. It has a great view of the Puget Sound, the staff was great, and the food was delicious! You have to try the Honey and Soy Glazed Duck Breast! We will definitely go back.

Have been here several times and loved it every time. Fresh fish, good meat and other specialty dishes. Great wine selection and the owners are very knowledgable on their wines....great reccomendations always! Hard to find this place and kind of tight inside, but worth it.

We had dinner with friends to celebrate a Birthday. We were a party of 7. The food was great and the service was good, but the night ended up being ruined by the owner of the restaurant. The owner Seth approached our friends daughter and asked her to join him at his table!!! We were shocked that someone would even do this. When we asked the manager who that person was he said he was the owner. We were blown away that the owner would try to pickup a woman at a table with her family and friends. We will never go there again and hope his wife Lluvia reads this review. Caution to all the women out there and their husbands or fathers. If you want a family friendly restaurant this is not the place.

I'm amazed to have never eaten here befor now. Hidden gem. I guess it has been in this spot since '82. I have had lunch and dinner 4 times and won't say what I had because all dishes shone. Make up your own mind what to have. Today's special was Monfish liver (ankimo)!

I am member of a daily deal site called Tippr and I bought the Place Pigalle voucher. I finally got around to getting my wife out of the house to a romantic dinner and used my voucher for the meal. I was welcomed warmly and seated quickly and all I can say is that the food was better than described on the website. The owner stopped by my table shook my hand and asked if we needed anything. My wife was amazed that i went through the trouble of finding such a romantic restaurant that had so of the best food.I wanted to say that this restaurant is one that deserves more attention and is worth the money.I have recommendation that you try the mussells pigalle and the roast duck.

My husband and I went to Seattle for our honeymoon and found Place Pigalle on our last dinner. Everything was wonderful, we were greeted quickly, the service was excellent and prompt, the fastest we'd experienced in the entire city and the food was phenomenal.
