Emmett Watson's Oyster Bar

Description

Serving clam chowder, fish-and-chips, oysters on the half shell and Guinness, this charming restaurant does all the cheap seafood standards better than anywhere else in a pleasant spot in Pike Place Market . In winter you can sit inside at a booth with a checkered tablecloth. In summer the little outdoor patio, really a dip in the hillside terrace under the trees, offers a peaceful oasis away from the market crowds.

Divey in a Good Way
By ,
This is one of my favorite places in town. I'm a local and it's often the excuse I use to get myself down to the market. The staff can be abrupt and it can be a bit divey, but the good is consistent and good. The oysters are always fresh and at a good price. Seattle can be very mannered and fussy and it's nice to have divey, in your face restaurant with good food. In fact, I'm going there for lunch today.

Dirty, dingy and dark.
By ,
Visited Seattle for a few days while on a layover for a cruise. Went to Pike Place market for a day and came across this place. The food came out cold and I had to get them to re-heat. Staff gave me dirty look when I told them. In the back of my mind, I was worried they would spit in my food. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Junk.

Great for a quick bite!
By ,
My sister and I recently went to Pike Place Market and were thrilled to find Emmett Watson's Oyster Bar. It was a great escape from the rain and a real treat to visit. The laid back atmosphere and pub like adornments are a great thrill and many pictures were taken here. Kudos for the paper bag menus. The menu features some wonderful food. Off the appetizers menu, we loved the Zucchini sticks with cucumber dip and also the Havarti and cheese. After sharing, there was little room left for the rest of our food - some delicious fish and chips and also chicken strips and fries. Absolutely delicious and fun. The prices are reasonalbe and it's a great place for tourists to simply drop in and catch a bite to eat. The only downsides are no free refills on pop and depending how you view it, the waitstaff aren't there to serve on you, simply take your order and give you food. We will be back indefinitely. Two thumbs up!

miss it like drinking

Come for the salmon soup soup, stay for the pint glasses full of ice and cheap wine. Don't get to close to the mouse eating balloon clown, though. He's not to be trusted.

A wonderful spot to unwind after a busy day! Salmon stew... wish we could find it here on the East Coast. How 'bout sharing the recipe?
