my favorite restaurant ever
Wild Ginger is awesome. The menu is nouveau pan-Asian, and everything is utterly delish.
The most fun is to order several dishes and share so you can taste everything. For a small group of 3-4 people, I usually start with either the Vietnamese spring rolls (the fresh kind, not fried) or a soup - I've tried and enjoyed the laksa (a spicy Malaysian bouillabaise) and the sweet potato and squash stew. Then I get a few small plates from the satay bar (mushroom, scallops, eggplant, lamb, ...) plus 2-4 main dishes to share.
Among the main dishes, the duck with steamed buns is absolutely incredible. I also love the Panang beef curry, the Seven flavor beef, and the Monk's curry (veggie).... Actually, I think I love everything on the menu.
If you go on a weekend, you definitely need reservations. Also, many people don't know there's an upstairs - it's quieter and great for a romantic date. There's also a great music club called the Triple Door on the lower/basement level - the early shows are all-ages but the later shows are 21 and up.
Oh, and one more perk of going to Wild Ginger - it's famous enough that you see celebrities there all the time.
