Ivar's Acres of Clams
Ivar's Original Acres of Clams has been a Seattle tradition since 1938. The city's colorful waterfront at Pier 54 provides a scenic backdrop for this attractive yet informal restaurant where, as ferryboats glide by the window, you'll dine on Ivar's traditional favorites and other delicious Northwest seafood from our daily fresh sheet. The main menu also features fresh steamed clams, salmon, Dungeness crab salad, halibut, Ivar's famous fish 'n chips, Puget Sound clam chowder and much more. We at at Ivar's as part of a big family get-together in Seattle in August. There was a bit of a wait since we didn't have reservations, but it wasn't too long and there were things to do while waiting (i.e. check out the curiosities next door). The restaurant atmosphere is pretty relaxed, which was nice after a long day sight-seeing. The dishes are traditional seafood-restaurant fare, well prepared and reasonably priced. In particular, the servers handled our large group (four kids and 7 adults) very well. I'd give it a thumbs up, particularly if you are looking for someplace traditional and casual.
