The Metropolitan Grill
The moment you step into the Metropolitan Grill, you know you have entered a classic steakhouse. Guests enter through tall mahogany doors to be greeted by tuxedo clad Maitre D's. Cuts of beef are showcased in a glass display in the front entryway. Framed photographs of celebrities, sports heroes and local politicians, all frequent visitors to The Met, line the walls. At the Metropolitan Grill, the focus is on the Prime beef, American and Japanese Wagyu. Steaks are seared over the high heat of the "Iron Wood of the World," imported mesquite charcoal, ensuring the most tender, juicy steaks available. Metropolitan Grill Chefs personally select each cut that is served to guests. The Metropolitan Grill's award-winning wine list showcases the definitive steakhouse selection of premium West Coast red wines, with special emphasis on Cabernets, Merlots and Meritage.
We had a dinner party of 6 on March 31, 2010 celebrating a 75th birthday an looked forward to the event at the Met. Well, first it was extremely noisy and conversation was difficult. But the meals were really mediocre for such a reputation put out by the media. My fllet mignon was very tough but cooked correctly to rare and was only warm when served. No vegetables with dinner, The salads were wimpy and poorly presented. The other meals did not compare at all with other top notch restaurants in Seattle . The desserts were great however as were the mashed potatoes. Service was very good. However, for the prices charged and the middle of the road meals we won't go back. Canlis and McCormacks, Flying Fish will be our choices. This was in the middle of the week too and not a busy night.
I am a steak lover, and when I came to visit Seattle i was told to visit the Metrpolitian Grill. I was told that it was the best steak in the city. It was the most succulent beaf tenderloin I have ever tasted and it was not over spiced. the service is the best I have ever had. ther was so much food that I did not have room for dessert. I liked the resaurant so much I went back the next day and had my dessert. It was an apple pie of sorts with ice cream, that was prepared and flambéed right at the table.
The best experience ever.
I strongly recommend this steak house to anyone visiting Seattle Wa.
We only went once, about a year ago, and my wife and I still talk about it as a benchmark dining experience. I had the best steak I've eaten in my life. The service was flawless. My wife had a pasta-and-shrimp dish she loved, but I wasn't willing to dilute the joy of my steak by trying any of it. We arrived at the appointed time for our reservation and were seated immediately. There simply was not any aspect of our evening that was not breathtaking. Including, of course, the check, but what do you expect?
Wonderful dinning experience. Loved the service, food and wine. Reservations a must to get in for dinner. Not a problem if you plan ahead. Wine stuard very helpful in choosing just that perfect wine with dinner. If you are looking for a great steak and great experience, well worth the time and expeince.
