Omar Al-Khyam

Description

Located in Renton, about 20 minutes south of Seattle, this little Middle Eastern eatery has been a favorite of the local Boeing employees for more than 20 years and it is no secret why. The food is delicious. The decor is not the draw here, so dress casual or drop in as you are. The Lebanese cuisine is flavorful. The kabobs are mouth-watering as are the specialty salads and the house specialty, Chicken Shwarma.

I've been here a couple of times, and love the food. The restaurant location is hole in the wall, but it's worth going there. I lived in the Middle East for 12 years and know Middle Eastern food. This is good.

I have been having dinner at Omar Al- Khyam Restaurant for over 15 years and each time it's amazing ! this family own restaurant is full of friendly family oriented folks which always makes me feel right at home. The young lady greets you with the upmost respect and the cook is the best!. I have NEVER had Lebanese food this great anywhere in WA state. You all should treat yourself to this amazing dinner!

This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. My family has spent several year's worth of birthdays and special events over baba ganouge, lamb kabobs, and cabbage rolls. This place was established in the 70s and continues to please in a friendly, non-assuming sort of way. The proprietor may still be the cook that evening, and if so, strongly suggest the half-chicken special. My father would come over from the Kitsap area and we would eat there on special occassions. We were delighted to find that they had another family restaurant Alladin's Pallace in Silverdale. We visit both locations for delicious food, friendly neighborhood service, and the best lamb and lima bean soup I have ever tasted.

Disappointing Food We ate lunch at the Omar Al-Khyam restaurant in Renton and sadly found the food to be a big disappointment. We both had the lamb kabob. The lamb was tough and chewy and was not flavorful in taste as one would typically expect from Lebanese food. The lamb was so chewy and flavorless that we initially wondered if they had made a mistake and given us beef instead. The rice had no saffron and was mixed with noodles. The pita bread was stale. We took most of the food 'to go', but the 'to go' food went straight in the trash when we got home, which I cannot remember having done in recent memory. The best part of the meal was the small salad we had beforehand…not enough. If you want good Lebanese food east of Lake Washington, we recommend the Mediterranean Kitchen in Bellevue.

Good food, service, and prices. Small, simple building, the only place to go for great middle eastern food in the Seattle area. I will continue to eat here and recommend it to my friends.

As a middle-eastern immigrant, the food at Omar Al-Khyam is as close as you can get to the original food back home. When I eat there, I get an instant reminder of the food back home (if not better). Nice food, friendly service what else do we expect from a restaurant?. Go there, you won't regret it.

Awesome Food! Great Service!

Nice family owned place where the people are friendly. The Falafel is fantastic. The Lamb is wonderful, wait... just try this place. A very casual drop in. Nothing fancy. Finish with Arabic coffee and Baklava!

almost hate to do this...

because I love the place so much, I don't want the competition for seats! It's a small place, about 30 seats, but we've been lucky enough to never have a wait. The service is very good, especially when the owner is at the helm. But for sure the attraction is the food! Amazing! There are some vegetarian dishes, you know, hummus and eggplant based, which are just fine. But these folks make chicken and lamb just out of this world! The place to start, I think, is one of the platters or combos - just to get a taste of their range of talents. Price is pretty reasonable (very, considering the quality of the food!) It's probably my favorite restaurant in the Seattle area!

Highly recommended

I absolutely love this restaurant. The people are very friendly, and it has been family owned and operated for a long time. All I can say is perfection! My favorite dish is the Shish Tavouk Kebab. I usually order is with Fatoush instead of the regular salad. The flavors are so sharp and just wonderful.
