Old Basque Inn, Jordan Valley

We make the trip from CA to OR twice a year and one of the highlights is making sure we get our breakfast at the Old Basque Restaurant on the way home. It is a favorite place for us. Great service and great food at a very reasonable price.

Not fancy for sure, but clean and comfortable. This is an old establishment and has a great reputation with the locals. You can enjoy a quick sandwich or a really unique dinner served Basque Style with portions being served I guess family style. The owner is from the local area and from a rich Basque heritage and really knows what basque should taste like. You will have no problem getting full and with a full bar on site you can have a cocktail or brew with your meal. You can even stay the night in one of the rooms upstairs which comes with breakfast. I highly recommend the Old Basque Inn for atmosphere and the great food.

This place is on its last leg; the other three have long fallen prey to decay. Room maintenance is poor to dusty. Service in the eatery is rough. The food itself is fair but limited, not much Basque left, not even chorizo! The salad had seen better days (or weeks).Our room was the only one prepared; the others languished with remnants of the previous tenants--even the following day. The exterior paint is peeling, the porch chairs are leftovers from a 1960's beach party. The hokey bathrooms were very clean. If you want cheap lodging in a dying town, go there. You will survive and have a few good stories to tell. If not, drive the extra miles and pay the extra bucks for a more pleasant location.
