08/25/2007 - Our experience was so terrible that we had to make it a priority to warn others before they experience something similar. We went to the Old Pad to watch a UFC fight and arrived at 6:00. Whitney, our waitress, took our drink and food orders--a salad, burger and fries, glass of wine, and a domestic beer. About half an hour later, she notified us that they were out of the domestic beer. We changed our order to a different domestic beer and half an hour after that, she came back to tell us that they were again, out of what we ordered. Approximately 1 hour and 12 minutes after we had ordered our drinks, Whitney brought only the domestic beer to the table (which, coincidentally, turned out to be one of the beers that she said they were out of). She inquired if I wanted a drink and I had to remind her that we were still waiting for a glass of wine. 1 hour and 36 minutes after we had put in our orders, I went to check on our food. Whitney began crying when I asked her where it was and said it should be out soon, even though eight people (we were closely examining who came in before and after us and who was eating and who wasn't) who came in after us had already received their food. Whitney finally brought out our food. It's important to note that while the bar was full, it was not packed, and therefore we cannot excuse Whitney's lack of with-it-ness to it being a busy night. In our additional snooping, we figured out that the owner of the bar was sitting close by and he had to serve his own table food and drinks after waiting for Whitney. We are perhaps willing to give the Old Pad a second chance on a less busy night, but we are certainly not willing to ever have Whitney as a waitress again. We do not suggest that you do, either. Unfortunately, this bar goes down as the very first disappointing bar experience we've had in Eugene. If you do go on a UFC night, or perhaps any other night, eat somewhere else first and order drinks from the bar. The wait staff is terrible.
