We had a group of 7 to celebrate a birthday. The waitress was terrible, brought water, no menu s and wanted to know if we were ready to order before we got menu s. I have been a waitress for 10 years, so I know a good waitress and service. Service was terrible. My husband had German food in Germany and he said that the food at the Blue Heron Bistro is not german food at all. We thought for being charged a 18% gratuity was totally out of sight, especially for the crappy service we got. So we will not ever go back or recommend it to anyone.
cold hot chocolate , frozen center veggie burger, hard potatoes, this after 25 min. of wait time and service by a rude server in a filthy apron with blood all over it. Called the owner and he could not have cared less, so never went back, never ever will refer this restaurant.
We had a delightful time at the Blue Heron. We were there on a quiet evening and had a chance to visit with our waitress/hostess whom we enjoyed very much. We tried both the German food and the seafood and found them both to be good. I preference was for the German food as some of the seafood seemed a little overcooked (the only reason for not giving it five stars). I ordered a good microbrew and the waitress gave me a chance to try several to select the one I liked the best. We would definately eat here again when in the area. We travel fulltime and have found few restaurants in Oregon I would take the time to write a positive review on their behalf.
Cannot believe Suzie B. What a load. We find the staff most attentive, and the food is outstanding. We have eaten here numerous times over the last couple of years. We look forward to our 3 to 4 trips a years to Coos Bay and the first food we desire comes from the Blue Herron. 5 stars for the German style food, Great selection of Beers also.
Loved the interior decor. However, our visit was not as enjoyable as we had hoped. We waited at least 20 minutes before water arrived and another 20 for the waitress to take our order. We were about to leave when she finally came. About six booths and one large table were filled with patrons, but the other half of the restaurant was empty. When we ordered, they were out of the schnitzel. I had to ask for the diet soda when dinner arrived. The meat was pink, the vegetables cool, and I could not eat most of the dinner. My husband and I shared his meal. The prices were fine and the presentation was average. The waitress was apologetic about the wait. She was the only employee in serving the customers. She had to do everything. There was no hostess and no beverage server. This restaurant is suffering from poor management. I would not recommend this business.
I have eaten there a few times in the past 4-5 years and I have never had any complaints. The food is great and always well prepared, and there salad is made fresh every day. As far as I am concerned It is probably one of the best restaurants I have been to in Coos Bay.
very clean and very nice inside. However the food is just as plain and tasteless and anything you could imagine. I first ate here in 1993 or so and the food was good. Now in 2009 it is tasteless and cardboard. Still nice ambiance, just wish they could cook somethign with flavor.
