Me and my hubby ate around 7:00 pm @ NB branch then i saw the waiter busy closing the other back door and pulling the big foot rug and also pulling the garbage can, I was watching him till he saw us, took the menu and started to ask us if we want to order, It make me want to say bye and goodnight,, coz i expect him to wash his hands first before touching something that we would eat. I told my husband what i saw, and he said he saw the waiter finally wash his hands when starting to get the food for us, Still everyone out there be aware of handwashing before and after doing or handling something, even it seems no one is watching or around like us customers.
It took an hour and 25 minutes for our food. The food was plain and generic. I was very unimpressed with the food, and wish i had gone to Taco bell or some fast food resturant. I could not be more unimpressed with the food there. I really wish i had not wasted my time by ever going there. It was a very low point in my night.
I,as a cook think it is my favorite restaurant in north bend and the coos bay location as well.Good homestyle food.period.The only complaint i ever hear is it is crowded and people have to wait for a table.they should think that if that many people want to be there it must be good, very good.
The waiters and hostesses are so nice and friendly. That makes me keep coming back to them. Plus having kids they are so great with them. One thing they can work on a little is the food, but not all is bad. Other than that they are perfect in my eyes. Best place to go when I dont want to cook, or a quick lunch, or to even go out for breakfast.
You think the food is bad now, I remember when the Kozy Kitchen was the hang out for kids to smoke ciggaretts and drink coffee all day. Talk about discusting!!!! Im sure I found ashes in my grits on more than one occasion. I have since then been back and the food was I'd say half ass.
A lot of people around here love this place, and for the life of me, I can't figure it out. Perhaps it is because I actually know how to cook, and I don't normally use powdered gravy mixes, frozen mixed veggies, or prepackaged baking mixies in my cooking, and the Kozy Kitchen obviously does. I have never been there when I either didn't have to wait forever, or didn't have to send something back. Once, it was my hashbrowns (prepackaged) that weren't even cooked all the way through. Another time, all of the veggies that came with my meal were cold and tired, probably depressd after spending so many years in a large can. Then there was that morning that I ordered a small breakfast, and only got 1/2 of an English muffin. I asked for the other half, and the waitress told me the chef said I couldn't get the other half, but if I wanted, I could pay for another whole English muffin. I asked if I could just pay for the other half of the English muffin I had, and would you believe they said no? Finally, when I was nearly done with my breakfast, the waitress brought me the other half of my muffin, winked at me, and said it was on the house. Bizarre. I don't think that in the 5 years I've lived in this area, they have ever served a fresh vegetable. I don't count their salads because those are made with pale iceberg lettuce, a slice or two of an unripened greenhouse tomato, a slice of cucumber, and then *loaded up* with bacon bits and croutons. (yuck!)
The staff is very friendly though, and I have had pretty good desserts there from time to time. Please keep in mind that a lot of folks love this place, and you might, too. The atmosphere is nice and homey, and small groups of people enjoy meeting there for business or social reasons. I have a couple of friends who meet there every week- they love it, and they love it. I just don't. However, to give credit where it is due, the last time I went, I ordered a bowl of oatmeal, and I am pleased to tell you that the oatmeal, at least, didn't seem to be instant, and was quite good. However, my overall experience with the Kozy Kitchen has not been that enjoyable.
Kozy kitchen, WOW, 5 Star Mom and Pop Restaurant!!
The menu has a great variety, more than you would normally see and the prices are reasonable, not franchised in mark up for big profit. Delicious salads, very nice and friendly service, make you feel right at home, and feeling guilty if you dont leave a tip because of their clean cut and prompt staff. WE ALWAYS LEAVE TIPS. Try their sandwiches, breakfast, any part of the menu is always worth reviewing with every visit. Open 24 hours a day in a town that rolls up its streets at 6pm. In the middle of the night, its a COZY, Warm, Inviting atmosphere. Savory coffee and refills all the time, hot chocolate w/ whipped cream on top, gooddddddd.
