We have traveled the oregon coast for the past 3 yrs and we loved Maxwell's and their KJ's. Wendy and Gary were the best always fun, helpful and fair in rotations as well as always smiling. We were there 3 times last week and things just were not the same. We finally asked and were told Wendy was no longer there and Gary had passed away. I wish we could find Wendy. The currant KJ's have no soul and the place is without rythem. The bartenders are rude and service is slow. I wonder how they make any money. Shame on them....
A friend recommended Maxwell's for good drinks and food, so we decided to try it since we weren't looking for fine dining, just a decent place with some ambience and good food and drinks. well, the food was fine. the clam chowder was pretty good. the drinks were ok except it took 10-15 minutes to get them after we ordered. I ordered shrimp scampi, which was $19.25...only got 4 pieces of shrimp. the waiter explained the cook was new and didn't know what came with what. there was supposed to be 8 pieces of shrimp. whatever. our waters were empty for who knows how long, coffee as well. the server was short, unattentive, and just acted like we were bothering him. they weren't that busy, yet it seemed like we were the last people on the face of the earth. we originally went and sat in the bar but nobody was in there, so we decided to go out to the dining room. we should have left altogether, but who wants to drive all over town looking for a place to eat? Definitely would not go back again.
I would like to get in touch with the owner of this restaurant so I can give him/her some advice as I know about restaurants and would like to help him/her improve its service quality. Does anybody of you know the name of the owner? Thanks a lot!
The bar staff and DJ (KJ) have all changed over the last year. This bar has an incredible sound system and the best karaoke selection I have ever seen. The new KJ's run a great show and are very helpful and fair in their rotation. You may have to wait awhle to sing on the weekends, but it's a great place to sit and relax and listen to the music. In fact, they were voted this last year by BOSS Radio 100.7 in the Best of the Best Competition as the Best Karaoke Lounge on the Coast. Karaoke is 7 nights a week at 9pm and Gary is the KJ Wed-Sat with Wendy Mon-Tues. I've never had a bad night at Maxwell's!
The bartender and dj had very bad attitudes. Customer service skills are lacking and employees should be trained otherwise. As far as a bar goes The Pines may have a dive bar look but the service is extremely better which doesn't say much for the employees in Maxwell's bar.
Not a very good restaurant. We won't go back. Food was edible but nothing special. Prices are high for what you get. Server was friendly but not all that attentive. Definately not recommended for families with children as it's small and tight inside.
