This restaurant used to be good. Until they changed it! This is one of the worst restaurants in all of Eugene (Next to Taco Loco!)! They microwave their food now. It used used to be Mexican/American, fresh fried tacitos, goods enchilladas, and combos... good marguaritas! But when I last went here, it was obvious they no longer employ cooks! My microwaved chile relleno was disgusting and greasy! The bartender was a jerk, and tricked me into buying a drink special, only to find out it cost $10! Since when are drink specials so expensive? I will never go back!! Not even if it was a free meal!!! 0 stars, not 1, the program made me put at least 1 star...
I do not recommend this restraunt under any circumstances. It took 45 minutes to get chips & salsa, over an hour to be served our meals, slow service, the food was bland. They short changed me at the end.
I don't normally write reviews but if you go here don't say I didn't warn you! Go to taco bell and save your money. I took my 85 y/o mom here for a nice dinner and it was terrible. All three of us got different items and they were all equally bad. The chicken was so spicy hot we couldn't eat it. The waitress brought us sour cream because she said it would cool it down. Nice try but we should have been offered another dinner. Thanks for ruining my mom's 85th dinner. Luckily we had cake and ice cream at home.
Craptastic. If you don't like Mexican food but love salt, this is the place for you. We only tried it because kids eat free on Saturday before 3 and it still wasn't worth it. The waitress overcharged us $5 but it wasn't worth our time waiting to get her to correct it as they were very slow and seemed understaffed, no huge deal on the $5 though. This is terrible Mexican food and I will not be returning. If you want good Mexican food in Eugene, try Chapala's but if you want really good Mexican food then go to Torero's in Springfield at the Albertson's shopping center at 58th and main!
I went there last night for my b-day and got the sizzling grilled chicken enchiladas. They came sizzling on a hot platter with rice and bean soup. Also a very small amount of guacamole and cornbread like mush. I also got the regular margarita on the rocks and specialty beach pear margarita. The food was pretty good, my boyfriend thought it was pretty bland though and he got the same meal as me except with steak instead of chicken. I thought the salsa was not great, but hey it's free. I also got a free b-day flan. The atmosphere was pretty good as well, just a little dim. The only thing was it took a long time to get our cocktails both times. Overall a good experience though.
El Torito is one of two of our family's favorite mexican restaurants. The atmosphere is fun, the dining area is broken up in to smaller areas; among them are an atrium area and a cantina. The food is always good and the staff are very pleasant. Even during the busiest times, you can see the waitstaff working hard to service you well. There margaritas are pretty good too.
My aunt recommended this place and I'm glad she did!! This is a great place! They have wonderful chips & salsa that they serve until your food gets to you. Their drinks are AWESOME and their food is fabulous! I love the atmosphere - they have a cantina and an atrium area to sit in...try this place out!
