Chowder Bowl Newport, Newport

Food & service is ok but the chowder is not hot enough and a little pricy.

Great Clam Chowder and Excellent Oysters and Chips one of my favorite places to eat!! This is the best food anywhere

My husband and I have just came back from the restaurant. I ordered the famous chowder and caeser salad with shrimp and my husband had fish and chips. The clam chowder was nothing too special it's not bad but not outstanding. So was caeser salad. (My husband didn't like the caeser salad at all because there is too much creamy dressing in it and it was too heavy.) Fish and chips, it's ok too. Nothing special. I've had better.

This is the best food anywhere. We eat there everytime we go to the beach and are never disappointed. The fish and chips are excellent. Not oily at all, and very flaky. The Ceasar salad is to die for and the Clam Chowder is the best. They have a good wine and Beer list too. Very reasonably priced. I highly recommend it. We will go there everytime, we're fans!!! We just ate there again this past weekend, President's weekend. As usual it was awesome. We arrived at noon and it was busy. Service was excellent and the staff is so friendly. The food is fantastic and price is right. You can't go wrong eating at this fine restaurant. And the chowder is so good, not fishy at all.

WE JUST ATE AT THIS FANTASTIC RESTAURANT THIS WEEKEND. MY HUSBAND IS A CHEF, SO TO SAY THE LEAST HE IS A MAJOR CRITIC WHEN IT COMES TO PRESENTATION AND QUALITY OF FOOD. HE HATES MOST CLAM CHOWDERS BUT THIS ONE WAS ABSOLUTLEY WONDERFUL, THEY EVEN HAD BUTTER ON TOP WHICH IS A MUST TO A CHEF. THE BREAD PUDDING FOR DESSERT WAS A GREAT TURNAROUND TO PEOPLE WHO DO NOT CARE FOR BREAD PUDDINGS. I WAS REALLY AN AMAZING DESSERT! I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO PRAISE THE SERVICE. WE HAD AN AMAZING SERVICE WHO WAS PROMPT, POLITE AND OFFERED TO GIVE US TASTERS. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS LITTLE RESTAURANT AT THE NYE BEACH IN NEWPORT OREGON. IT IS A MUST EAT AT!!!

It's old and the inside is needs some improvements. It gets very crowded during peak hours and weekends. The food is ok nothing to brag about. The fish portions are small, burgers are just average size, sandwiches are a little better. The chowder sometimes is a little runny it varies on the day. For the Nye Beach area I would expect it to be nicer inside especially for what you pay.

We have always raved about the clam chowder at The Chowder Bowl. We have introduced many friends and relatives. We often buy the chowder for take out. Today we bought some for dinner, it was so thick I could not get it out of the container.I had to dig it out with a spoon. I added milk to help thin it a little, it did not help. It was also very salty. Do you have a new chef? I hope this was a one time incident otherwise you have lost a customer.

My husband and I decided to go chowder tasting while in Newport. We visited several restaurants, including Mo's, and the Chowder Bowl won hands down. Mo's chowder is made with mostly potatoes and not many clams. I suspect they use other type of white fish. The service at the Chowder Bowl wasn't very speedy mainly because of the kitchen. It took forever for our food to be prepare, and it's a little pricey. If you want a wonderful meal and have plenty of time, definitely try the Chowder Bowl.

This was by far the best chowder I've ever had! The service was great and the restaurant was charming. I'd recommend it to all my friends.
