Battle Creek Restaurant, Salem

I don't know much about golf, but I do know when I want an excellent steak dinner I go to the restaurant attached to the course. For about $15 you get a potato, salad, texas toast and the best NY strip steak I've ever had. Granted, the ambiance leaves somethingto be desired... stale cigarette smoke, outdated furnishings, ball games too loud on the tv set... but I'm willing to forgive these traits because of the great food. If you go in the spring or on a cool summer evening, you can sit out on the patio at an umbrella shaded table overlooking the green. Of course the last time we did that we were bothered by a Hitcockian bunch of bees. So pack the benadryl, wear your stretchy pants and enjoy your dinner! You won't be sorry.
