Obviously a family-owned restaurant, the food is GREAT! I'm a vegetarian, but my carnivorous friends agree. I can't get back to Mudai enough. The lentils are always perfectly spiced, the injera ia always moist & never stale, even at the edges.
Service is better than at most ethiopian joints - ethiopian restaurants are for relaxing for hours; it;s usually not a good idea to go to one when you've got a show to catch in an hour. But here, they tend to let you set the pace.
The decor could be better, but the food is what keeps me going back.
It's hard to get decent Ethiopian grub in Portland- Mudai is one of the new comers up in the Rose Quarter/ MLK area.
Food is pretty good here- and they have Honey Wine. Queen of Sheba is good too. (For some reason Portland is challenged for good Ethiopian food).
