Stanford's Restaurant - Lloyd Center, Portland

Great place to eat .. My wife & I eat from Stanfords Lloyd Center about 3-4 times per week. We have yet to be dissatisfied by anything. Food .. top drawer, service, the best.

ate at the Janzten Beach location, in the middle of the week, it wasnt busy, but serve was quite poor. when the meal did come, the veggies and potatoe were cold, they think medium is medium rare, was asked if I wanted some fresh ground pepper, never saw it, by the time the server did check back, it was either eat a cold dinner, or wait 20 minutes heard from management, but like the serve, they promise to get back but never have if your on an expense account and could care less as to how your treated, then I would recommend Stanford's

Stanford's had always been a reliable, enjoyable restaurant until. Two of us ate there last night (Saturday August 9). Since the recent sale of the chain, things have changed radically. Smaller, less interesting menu. Impatient waiter whose sole intent was to get away as soon as possible. Cocktails were nearly alcohol free. We ordered entree salads. These were preceded by stale bread. Salads took a very long time. The salmon caesar, which I order with light dressing, was drenched. Salmon was overcooked. My friend's salad - only chopped one left on the menu - was fine. We asked the waiter for menus. We asked the waiter when we were ready to order drinks. We weren't immediately ready with the food order so he hurried away. We had to pursue him to check on how much longer we would wait for simple salads. It was our last meal at this or any Stanfords. Floors were littered, many many empty tables and yet they went uncleared. Looked like a Denny's. I should have been suspicious when on a Saturday night the place wasn't half full, no waiting and a chef was at the front door resting on the customers' bench. Whoever took these restaurants ruined a perfectly good business. Stay away.

I got one of those $15 gift cards in the mail, and went to try it out. I ordered fish and chips....The starter house salad was great!!! but the Fish was DISGUSTING!!! IT WAS SERVED TO ME SMELLING LIKE ROTTEN FISH!!! I COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT WAS LET OUT OF THE KITCHEN!!!!

The worst meal and service I have ever had. My husband, father-in-law and I stopped there for a meal at 2:15 on 6/14/08 and were sorry we did so. Our waiter didn't know how to smile, was lax in offering things such as steak sauce and the meal took 35 mins. to get to us after ordering. I ordered the French Dip and got something that had over cooked meat on it (the meat was actually dry and cracked around the edges). Not once did the waiter ask if everything was alright. We will never eat there again...

Another place I only ate at once. The food was below par. It is more expensive than it warrents. The service was Portland typical (inferior), and the cost was way more than the experience was worth. The wait staff are all attired very fancy, which is the sign of a place that caters to the pretentious diner who hasn't a clue about food, but will be impressed by visuals.

There food is horible. I would not recomend this chain establishment to anyone!

I love Stanford's Restaurant & Bar. I'm from Manhattan, NY, and just recently moved to Portland, OR. I have been looking for a 5-star restaurant similar to what I'm used to in NYC, and I found it at Stanford's at the Lloyd Center Mall. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. The decor is beautiful. The restroom is gorgeous, with plenty of hand lotion available after washing your hands. The restaurant is very clean inside and out. The service is excellent. They are extremely friendly and polite. The waitstaff stopped by my table occasionally to ask if everything was alright. And it always was. The food is to die for! Plus, the menu is very vegetarian-friendly. For instance, there are at least 2 veggie burgers available on the menu. I've tried them both and they are delicious. My only complaint is regarding dessert. I read other Stanford's carry cheesecake, but I was disappointed to find out this particular Stanford's does not. The dessert selection mostly consisted of ice cream; I think they should add a wider variety of dessert on their menu. The food is a bit pricey, but it's worth it. Stanford's has a fabulous website, which includes a standard menu with prices. Stanford's is a wonderful restaurant to go to at least once a week. Try it, you'll love it. --Lorrie
