Video games and a dance floor mix inside with a patio outside. This place can seem like a fraternity house party at times with the beer ads, posters and guzzling guys. However, the music, comprised mainly of top 40 and rhythm and blues, makes it a fun place to dance. You can make requests and learn to dance. Enjoy such tasty bar food as salads, pizza and sandwiches. The Refectory Cut and Monk's Cut are the popular steaks that are much adored by the patrons. A full bar serves a number of micro-brews on tap, apart from the usual wines.
All you MMA fight fans, this is the place to go. Numerous flat screen TVs, big and small, are located all over. Lots of seating, and happy hour specials make this place one of the best places to watch the UFC if you are not watching it at home
I love the Refectory!!!!! Everything about it is awesome. The food, service, people, and music. I wish I still lived in Portland, I miss that place so bad. I went there every wekend!! And, I would go there again.
I have been a regular customer of Refectory since early in 2002. It was always a fun place to go. Recently I have been disappointed. First of all I went dancing aftering not going for sometime. After having a few drinks I requested an ice water and I was told I had to pay for it. So, now they will not offer you free ice water in the bar even if you have purchased alcohol. That night I spent over 80.00 having dinner there as well. I guess I have a hard time understanding the concept of that. Considering they charge you a cover to go in the bar. The bartenders are great, but its not their call, so they have to follow what they were told to do. I guess you just gotta take your empty ice water into the bathroom and pray the faucet is clean. ;o( In my opinion that is a poor customer service decision.
Next, recently that had lowered dinner prices and had a wonderful selection of meals - they opted out the salad choice for a little lower price. That was nice. Their food is excellent almost everytime. Occassionally you get a dish you need to send back but I was eating there on average once a week the past several months. But this last Thursday they switched up the menu by adding about $5.00 per meal putting the salad as no longer an option. Yes you can still use the entertainment card but you have to pick the main meals and you only get 8.00 off two. With the price increase its not a very good deal anymore. The wait staff is always nice, but sometimes they leave only one person to cover the dinner room whole floor. So if a big party comes in it will slow them down alot.
They removed a few of our favorite dishes and my sons' favorite dish, so we won't be eating there often anymore. Its sad they have to make these changes I was really starting to bring in a lot of folks with me, but with the new changes.. none of them are going to want to come now.
It was very lively and entertaining! Yet semi-crowded but not to bad. I like the fact that there was plenty of seating if you want or a dance floor if you want to dance, and seperate areas to chill and get away from the really crowed areas!
This place is great on the weekends if you're looking for some booty for the evening, or perhaps wanna shake your groove thang on the dance floor. Nice big screen during football season, good drinks and one VERY do-able bartender:)
