McMenamins Kennedy School
Just 10 minutes northeast of downtown , the McMenamin brothers have created yet another Portland treasure here. The 1915 Kennedy School was slated for demolition before the McMenamins intervened. Now a nostalgic retreat, each room features its own charming theme, complete with chalkboard. Have a drink at the Honors Bar, the Detention Bar, or the Cypress Room Bar. Check out the expansive menu at the Courtyard Restaurant. Catch a movie in the Theater Bar. Peruse the original artwork adorning the hallways and tour the Concordia Brewery. Onsite theater and library, weekly music series, brewery, garden soaking pool and massage therapy.
The best hotel you will never see anywhere else except of course at other McMenamin's. We were able to grab a beer at 3 in the patio garden, see a movie while eating pizza and drinking beer and scribble juvenile remarks on our draw-down chalkboards in our sunny room. THe staff was fun, and the price was SO right!
went there for the first time and had a verry good time. the school is actually quite large inside. Full of artwork and articles the walls are verry interesting to look at. the theater was a great experience for me you can order your food and drinks and they bring it to you, the theator is full of couches and chairs to sit. As always the food at McMenamins is really good i would suggest to go with some friends and enjoy the evening
I love the environment. It is aaaaan old school transformed into a haven of beer bars, swimming pools, movie theaters and outdoor restaraunts with a fireplace. What more could you want? Don't like beer? They even have a cozy martini-style bar you can smoke a cigar in. A great place for family's, singles or romantic nights out. I would reccomend this spot to my parents or take my 13 year old daughter and friends with me. My boyfriend and I have visited on many occasions, but have yet to spend the night. Hint Hint
I love the ombience of the place. It has a theater, pub & restaurant inside. Excellent place to just stay in one place to socialize or a place to have friends meet up with you. Lots of activities to enjoy.
This place is amazing! The rooms are still the original classrooms. Grab a drink in the honors bar, eat in the school courtyard next to the big firepit, or walk around and learn about the teachers and students that once went to Kennedy School. Very unique and FUN!
For almost a century and a quarter this watering hole has been making every day "Turkey Day" in downtown. Established
in 1879, the bar is said to be Portland's oldest. The heavy, dark wood tables are reminiscent of an ...
