I have visited this restaurart a couple times. The service is great, but on my last visit on 12-18-11, I ordered the 9oz Prime Rib Dinner special, the whole dinner was colded when I got it, sent it back and it was cold again. I eat a Cold Dinner and will not go back at all. Very bad service also. I could have got a better Dinner at Tosis Restauant up the Street at 62nd and Sandy Blvd. And for less money too.
I went there a couple of years ago with a friend. I remember it being pretty dark, and had a romantic ambiance, which was fine, except it might have looked kinda awkward with two guys (slightly under dressed by the way) sitting across the table from one another. Aside from taking like an hour to find the place, I had no other problems.
The food was really good, and cheap to moderately priced as far as steak restaurants go.
I heard from a friend that they had live music on Wednesday's and weekends so I dropped in last night (July 13) before I hit my regular haunts on Hawthorne. This place has great food, mixed age groups of customers, and good sized drinks to boot. The entertainment for the night was a great piano player and a sexy voiced singer named Barbara Lusch.
While I only planned on dropping in for a quick one to check it out, I ended up eating a fine steak (salad was also better and bigger than I get at most steak houses downtown)with a few more drinks and staying till the singing and dancing unfortunately came to an end about 11pm or so. Lusch's voice was so smooth and with her good looks and friendly personality, I have become a new fan.( I even bought her CD)
I am so glad that I picked this night to go because I have a new appreciation for a supper club that brings in fantastic entertainers such as Barbara for their customers enjoyment - and did I say no cover charge at all !!! I will be back with friends next time Clyde. Tip for Clyde --- start marketing that special salad dressing man! Could be my new haunt...
One of the few places in Portland where you can enjoy a good meal and drink just a few feet away from a complete blues band. Nice Atmosphere and excellent service. You just dont find this combination of class, service, and relaxed atmosphere every day. A real treat!
The first thing I love about the Prime Rib is the decor and ambience. Green velvet private booths and dimly lit rooms brings you back to a romantic period before things became hip and trendy. If you are trying to impress a date, then this is a very nice place to take that special person. The food is very good, so once you settle back and relax the charm is not just limited to atmosphere only. I recommend the prime rib tidbits and the house red wine for simplicity and to get a good idea what the basics are like. Cooked just the way you like them, this makes a great late night meal before hitting the town or just the right size to have with a night cap. The menu is varied but down to earth and the prices are very reasonable.
