McMenamins Tavern & Pool
This auspicious tavern provides true rest and relaxation with its dark wood furnishing and old-time aura which gives out a feeling different from other McMenamins locations. Everyone tends to mind their own business, but the pool table entices some people to mingle. The food is as relaxed as the atmosphere, so order up your usual favorites including pizza, sandwiches and great salads. The seasonal brews are listed on the ever-changing board; to really unwind, go for a pint of Terminator Stout.
Although it's on trendy-third, it still manages to be unpretentious, open, and relaxed. There is outdoor seating when the weather is nice. The beer, of course, is good; the food is typical McMens' fare.
Good atmosphere, especially in the summer when all windows are open. Nice in the winter too when the fireplace is going. Lots to do: pool tables, darts, etc...as usual, McMenamins service is sketchy but the rest usually makes up for it. Lots of bars right around the corner, too.
Funky atmosphere and very unpretentious is what you will find at this tavern.
The beer is mainly microbrew and I like big greasy homemade fries to lessen the hangover. Probably not a tourist spot because of it's down the road location. Just a great after work and late night spot to eat and unwind.
I'm often asked for dinner recommendations by out-of-towners. I'd really like to recommend this place because the food is good and it's close by. The menu is a bit short, but the quality of food makes up for it. But it's noisy, dark, and the deal-breaker is: I can never find any help. I've been there a dozen times over the last three years and I think maybe thrice has anyone taken my order within 15 minutes of sitting down. I usually end up going to the counter myself and requesting assistance. Same with making a request for another round or asking for the check. Major mood killer. If it weren't for that, it would be my regular hangout. Guys, I LOVE the food, but if I'm limited to, say, an hour to eat, forget it, I know I won't make it back on time. Have the wait staff walk around once in a while and see how much money we will sink into your tavern!
