A Must See in Portland
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/24/05
If you're visiting Portland, Powell's City of Books should be at the top of your list of places to visit. From post cards to autographed books that cost thousands, Powell's has it. When you get there, ask for a map! They have them! This place has more books than any book store in the world. New and used!

Powel's Books is a place where you could send days at and still only scratch the surface.

It's a unique experience!
By Sara, 9/24/05
No matter what you're searching for, as long as it's in the form of a book, Powell's probably has it. I've never gone and NOT enjoyed myself. Be prepared to lose yourself among the rows and rows of literature.

It's comprehensive!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/22/05
Powell's Books is the most comprehensive bookstore in the United States! And the prices are awesome. Plus, they pay for used books and re-sell so those out-of-print or hard to find books can be found in Portland at Powells.

The Best Book Store Ever
By MotoDuck, 9/19/05
I love to take a box of old books I no longer want down to Powell's, trade them in, and then spend hours browsing the (seemingly) miles of ailes. I've met people that have traveled to Portland just to see this store and were not disappointed!

Always have what you need
By RobertJ, 9/17/05
The collection of people you see at Powell's is as varied as the books, and there are a whole lot of books. Almost any book can be found and usually there is an inexpensive used copy available. They have a great service for placing books on reserve. Bigger than most libraries, it is easy to spend hours looking through the various rooms and shelves. This is a must see attraction for any visit to Portland.

Always near or on the top
By mentalfloss1, 9/16/05
Powell's is a wonder. It lacks the funky style of the original Powell's but I love finding a good used copy right next to the overpriced new edition. I love it that I know I'll find what I want. It's great to sell my old books with ease and turn them into new books. And there's probably no better place to spend a drizzy gray day. Even the coffee is good.
