This was our first visit to Seaside, OR. The town is a great tourist attraction, but, by all means stay away from Pudgy's. The service was terrible, the food was even worse. We complained about our food & was given a complimentary breakfast the next day. Although hesitant about going back, we decided they needed a second chance. BAD idea! Spoiled condiments this time. The worst was the condition of the restrooms! Yuck!! You'd think that with the price they charge for food & drinks, (their prices are what you'd expect at a fine dining establishment), they could at least keep the bathrooms clean & in working order. Not so!! Carpeting is also in bad need of repair. Just not the atmosphere one would expect for a steak & seafood place. Was just very disappointed with our very first visit to this awesome city!
Every time I visit Seaside, my family always pays a visit to Pudgy's and we have never been disappointed. They have quick service, delicious food and very polite servers who provide a great dining experience. The restaurant has a comfortable and inviting atmosphere which my family always enjoys after a busy day of shopping and sight-seeing. I must add that the charming fireplace is a real bonus and is very cozy to sit by after a cold afternoon in the rain.
Our waiter was very patient and had a great sense of humor. He passed by our table several times to make sure our food was satisfactory and even substituted items in my sisters' meal at no extra cost. I also couldn't help but notice that when a customer at the table next to us told his waiter that the steak was 'well done', the waiter apologized and politely offered to take it back and get another one for him, and they both shared a laugh when the customer explained that he meant it was cooked well.
Our portions were huge, so when we got the check at the end of our meal, we were surprised that it costed so little for what we recieved. Two seafood entrees, a large grilled chicken caesar salad, a slice of peanut butter pie, two sodas and three glasses of wine cost us about $70. In thanks to our waiter for the excellent service we recieved, we left him a $10 tip.
If you ever travel to Seaside, I highly recommend having dinner at Pudgy's. If you don't, you'll be missing out on a great dining experience you won't soon forget.
My wife and I had dinner here and the food and service was excellent. We were able to change menu items to our taste and with no extra charge. We had battered, sauted and grilled items and all were served at the same time hot and flavorful. We were not rushed and the server checked back several times to ensure that our dinner was satisfactory. We will return any time we are in the area and inform all of our friends of our excellent experience!
Skanky, skany , skanky,...
if you are 23, and happen to have an even lower IQ,.. den dis is daplace 4 u, put your baseball cap on backwards, cover it wit yo black hoodie, and tip nastyassbar staff that you deserve.
This might well be just the worst place in Seaside, ( and Seaside is the McDonalds of the Oregon coast with pimply faced teens and middle ages burn-outs and bars full of pissheads).
But do not take my word for it, suck it and see how it really does.
My friends and I have visited Pudgy's on several occasions during our annual road trips and taken family and other friends there, as well. The food is awesome; portions are more than enough. Their smoked salmon clam chowder is better than any we've experienced. The staff is so friendly and informative. If ever you're in the area of the North Oregon Coast; we highly recommend trying Pudgy's. Not only are the dinners outstanding; the breakfasts beat anything else on the Coast, for price, variety and overall quality.
Thanks for many great dining experiences and our continued patronage.
The Lemon Drop Gals
Terrible restaraunt!! The hostess seated our two children at a different table from us. Even though the tables were somewhat close (about three feet) I had to choose between facing our kids or facing our table.
The place was terrible as well. The chairs were faded blue valour with brass trim and looked like something from a garage sale.
The restrooms were foul. There was no soap in the dispenser so they put a bottle of Dial in a pump dispenser on the sink. The paper towel dispenser was broken and so they put a roll of paper towels on top of it. The garbage was overflowing. The floor was dirty. The mirrors were missing much of the stuff on the back that makes them reflect. The walls were cheap paneling and that was the only thing that seperated the bathroom from the windows facing the street.
The food was terrible. I could barely cut or chew the undercooked steak I ordered. My wife and kids had no problems with their food but did agree that it was overpriced for the quality.
The staff was rude and treated us like we were an annoyance and most of them looked and talked as if they just got out of rehab. I understand good help is hard to find in a small town but these people were white trash.
The next night, we went to McKeown's and it was a little slice of heaven. If you have a choice, choose them over Pudgy's. I know the next time we go to Seaside, we will not be going back to Pudgy's. Ever!
We visited Pudgy's for lunch on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. We ordered the Halibut fish and chips (dinner portions) and it was delicious. The vegtables served were wonderful. If we are in Seaside again at mealtime, we will go to Pudgy's for their halibut fish and chips.
