My husband and I were on vacation and thought we would eat at the Fern Restaurant & Lounge. Definatley the most horrible experience ever. we were the only guest there (should have been a clue) and still got terrible service. We sat ourselves and waited for the waitress. Menus were put on the table and then she walked away. ( Not so friendly) We ordered a Reuben sandwich with side salad and a 6 oz charbroiled sirloin steak and oyster dinner. We had to ask the waitress to come back so we could order drinks. When the cup of clam choder came for my husband it was luke warm and was not as good as most canned chowders you buy in the grocery store. My salad was wilted and the carrot on top was all dried out. We should have known this was not going to be good. A long while later our food came. What was placed on our table was burnt food. My sandwich was obviously burnt. My husbands dinner on the other hand was not so obvious until he turned the oysters over. Black as coal. The 6 oz steak was so thin and burnt. Then the cook came out a place a bowl of canned corn on the table saying he had to cook the vegetable. We soon realized that the pounding and mirowave beeps we kept hearing must have played a role in the way the food looked. The steak was pounded so thin I am sure it was to make it look the size of a 6 oz steak and the rest of his meal was microwaved. We waited a long time for the waitress to come back but actually had to go to the counter where we waited even longer. After asking someone in the back for our waitress she appeared a few minutes later. We explained the food was burnt, she walked to the table, looked at the food, came back and agreed it was burnt. Then she offered us a gift certificate (we will never be back and told her so) but charged us for the side salad and chowder.Hmm. Be warned this is a waist of time and will absolutley be a terrible experience. Thankfully we drove a little further and on the way out of Tillamook found a great restaurant with excellent service and extraordinary food!
It's not just a one time bad exprience. It has happened to me and my family several times. The service is always bad the waitresses are more likely to be texting thier boyfriend then pay attention to their customers. The food is not the best in town either. The times that i have been in since 2004 has not been pleasant ones. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody.
The logger which is the lounge is the only nice thing about it. Cool bartenter and the atmosphere is great.
Incredible incredible incredible. I love Fern Restaurant & Lounge. the food, service, employees, cleanliness, ambience, and atmosphere are extremely incredible. Everything on the menu is incredible but my 2 favorite things on the menu are the chicken fried steak topped with that incredible creamy gravy & of course the tillamook cheese omelette a fluffy egg filled with delicious melted tillamook cheddar cheese a real treat the entire family will love. We were traveling through Tillamook on our crabbing trip. We saw this nice looking local diner on Hwy 101. We've had a lot of fond experiences trying local diners on our trips, and we thought this would be a perfect place to have breakfast. Oh, we were so wrong. First of all, the waitress didn't sit us down. She just pointed at a table and told us to sit. It took 18 minutes before we got menus (yes, we actually checked the time!!!). After we ordered, it took 22 minutes (yes, again we actually checked the time!!!). Luckily though, we had flies to swat to pass the time (Again, I'm not kidding.). We ordered chicken fried steak and Tillamook cheese omelette. Oh my... Chicken fried was thin and almost burnt and gravy was very powdery. The omelette was cold and cheese was not melting. We were a little disappointed with foods, but we thought it was just one of those days when you get unlucky. But, it didn't end there... We waited at least 10 minutes to get a check, but nobody helped us and we decided to walk to the cashier. When I asked for a pen to sign my credit card slip, the cashier flung her pen at me. She didn't even apologize. Well, we will not go back there again. It must be the beginning of a bad day. We didn't catch any crabs on that day...
