This is one of the oldest and one of the best this town has to offer. The Seafood is great. Sometimes this place is crowded with office types dying a little with every sip of their Martinis. It is usually loud. I am not sure if Gramma will like it, but cousin Jimmi, the lawyer from Sacto will think it is great.

Had New Year's Eve Dinner 12-31-09 at Jake's Grill. . Wonderful food, excellent service a must for anyone who has never dined there before. If you are visiting Portland, Oregon..this should be on the top of your list to stop and eat. A very special place.

I'm not sure where some of these reviewers ate dinner, but my experience was just the opposite. A long time friend took me there to celebrate my 65th birthday. The food was exquisite and cooked perfectly, the service was attentive (and the menu had Happy Birthday with my name printed at the top), the pineapple mojito was beyond what I expected. My dessert was a chocolate decadence thing with a fresh strawberry and whipped creme. All in all a birthday dinner I will remember for a very long time!!

Went there for my daughter's 21st birthday. There were 8 of us total and 5 of us had cold dinners. Nice! The drinks were good as were the desserts, but when you are paying $50.00 per person for a meal it should be hot. They are the first to say that they charge 18% for parties 6 or more but they should let you know that your food may or may not be served hot. Next time I'll go elsewhere for hot food. If I wanted cold food I would have gone to Subway!

Honestly, for the price points I expect more. The food is okay, the dessert is good, but there are problems. To start with, it's noisy, often drawing a lot of very casual people who act like they are at their local Denny's. My husband and I had a tradition of going here before the opera, but last year the food was cold, and staff kept giving more drinks to a very LOUD intoxicated woman. It ruined our date, and we haven't been back.

Another place that's too uneven. Sometimes ok, The breakfasts can be good, although not often enough. The biscuits are good when they're hot enough and if they haven't been allowed to harden and go stale. The dining area is attractive. The service personnel are almost better than Portland average.

Our dining experience was exquisite. The ambience was elegant. The staff was attentive yet unobtrusive. The menu was extensive and extraordinary. Company execs hosted a dinner for fellow employees there last night. Every appetizer, salad, entree, desert and cordial were of the highest quality. I recommend Jake's Grill not only for business or family gatherings. It is also fantastic place for an intimate meal for two.

I love Jake's lemon drops...made with freshly squeezed lemon--delicious. Plus, the bartenders are friendly and quick.
