Hot Lips Pizza
HOTLIPS has been a family-owned business since making Portland's first "gourmet" pizzas in 1984. In 2005 we began producing fresh fruit soda from the fruits and berries our farmers were growing. Today there are five pizzerias in Portland, a commissary kitchen, a soda brewing operation, a mobile oven that travels to farmers markets and to regional festivals, and a mobile soda set-up.Our mission is to preserve culture and celebrate humanity through our rich culinary traditions and by joining with others in finding new, sustainable ways of doing business.
I have always loved this place. Once a crazy woman stole my pizza and then tried to get me to go home with her. I was upset, because she took my pizza! She just grabbed my two pieces and threw them in her purse. Then she told me I needed to go with her to her house to make love. Hmm. Kind of a typical college place with bad art on the walls and music blaring-ranging from the sublime to the pointless. Oh, I was waiting for my girlfriend, and as a noble and kind of conservative guy I ordered more pizza and declined her offer.
The pizza truly is first rate. Very thin crust, like we have back in New Jersey, and with delicious ans freah toppings. Do realize though that its a college pizza joint. If you are a family with kids, and used to suburban pizza restaurants, you might feel a bit out of place. However, if you can handle the rap music, plastic furntiure, and counter service, you'll feed your family some great pizza while going easy on the wallet. We'd take our kids back there without hesitation.
Quite possibly the best pizza I've ever had. Whether you have an ordinary slice pepperoni or something unusual like winter squash and brie, you can't go wrong. Fast friendly service, reasonable price. Oh, and the fresh fruit sodas! I sometimes go several times a week!
