McMenamins Rock Creek Tavern
McMenamins' community landmark, Rock Creek Tavern, is back and better than ever after a fire that reduced the beloved original building to a pile of cinders in September 2002.With an eye to preserving the past, the outside of the new tavern looks nearly identical to its predecessor. To achieve this authenticity, we used timbers from two local barns (one dating back to the late 1800s) in the rebuild. The new tavern includes an elevated outside patio.
Such a lovely place, beautiful gardens, too bad the food was lousy! Burger was dry as a bone and the bun hard as a rock. Fries absolutely soaked with grease and limp. First cup of coffee ice cold, second cup full of grounds. They must stay in business by getting patrons liquored up and then they'll eat just about anything. Very disappointing meal for the price--would have been better off going to a Shari's! Oh, before I forget, the worst macaroni & cheese I've ever had!
Rock creek is one those unique places that you try to keep secret and all to yourself, but alas, it must be shared with the world. I take out of town guest's there, unique atmosphere, wait staff is great, live music is free, beer is cold, food is tasty, whats not to like.
The original ancient Rock Creek Tavern burned to the ground a few years ago, but those pimps at McM's rebuilt it wonderfully! Go in, have a hammerhead, and groove to some local talent on stage. If you like McM's other places, you'll love Rock Creek.
