Alan Wong's Restaurant, Honolulu

Excellent! My favorite dish is the penne in black bean sauce. But honestly, everything I've tried is wonderful. I would definitely recommend this Alan Wong's to anyone who is looking for a romantic dinner.

This is the best meal I've ever had, we made reservation a month ahead, still have to wait good 30 min for our table for 2, read those insane reviews, know it's going to be $$$$$....yet coming out of the experience, I'm still amazed. If I have to fish out $$$$$$$$$$ I'll still come here again. We were sat at the most romantic table, the middle table at the window, marvelous view of Manoa. After we settled down, a waiter politely dropped by, telling us out waiter will be with us shorting going thro the menu but he's happy to take our orders for drinks while we wait. That intensity of intelligent thoughtful service already got me noticing, and it just constantly carry out. Food is impeccably done. Freshest, most thoughtfully cooked and presented, bringing out of what this paradise piece of land can offer. It's gourmet that can not be tasted anywhere else in the world. I still rem dishes I had, how my tastebuds were newly enhanced, and I do think I'll rem for a long long time.

I've been to Alan Wong's on King Street twice now. I can say that I prefer it over Roy's but I've only been to Roy's once. I believe I ordered the Maui Beef as an entree the second time. There were so many items ordered both times that I can't recall all that I ate but everything was fantastic. The drinks were superb also.

There were six of us, celebrating a birthday. We all chose the seven-course tasting, some of us having wine tasting with each course. There is certainly a sense of occasion, with women dressing accordingly. The open kitchen may not please all diners, but there are quieter tables with a view of the city and hills. After a single visit, it is not easy to fully assess the cuisine, but everyone in our party really enjoyed themselves. We dined from 5.00pm to 7.45pm, probably delaying the next party to use our table. We spent almost $1,000 for six; it seemed unnecessary to charge us $3 valet parking, but this is a minor quible.

After seeing the ratings in Zagat, we couldn't wait to eat here. Of the four in our party, three agreed that the food was good, but way short of the hype. The fourth entree was so poorly executed it was sent back. After telling the staff three times that I didn't want a replacement, I finally had to bark at them when the asked a fourth time to get them to leave me alone. Sheesh, I know they want to please, but couldn't they take no for an answer? Obviously, we won't return. Take your business to Orchids; there you won't be disappointed.

I am a loyalist, once I find a place that I like it's really hard for anyone to sway me in trying anyplace new. Then by wonderful chance a dear friend begged me to try Alan Wong's....OMG! I so love this Alan Wong! The service is the best, the food is the best and since discovering this charming place I now eat there once every month. I'd go more often but my doctor would have a fit. Now as to that other place that I was devoted to once a month for the last 20yrs. is all but a memory. Alan Wong and staff I'm all yours!!

Another good Hawaiian Fusion food. Good coffee selection. Good wine list. A little nosy but still can be romantic.
