Our Favorite kind of eats. The Best Suckin' Lau Lau EVER ! Get the combo with Lomi, Pipikaula, Kalua and what not may have you. There is no comparisson anywhere on the islands. I LOVE IT !! my Family LOVES IT !! my Mainland Relatives look forward to dining here but they scared of the old fixtures and atmosphere of this place so we always TAKE OUT jus' for them. Dea you Go! we all Full now! Good Eats for the Opu......mmmmmmm ONO.

Ono Hawaiian Food

Ono's is the only place to eat Hawaiian food. Everything is fresh, fresh, and "ono". I always take visitors here for the true local experience. Go early to avoid the long lines.

We stopped by around 1:30 in the afternoon for a slightly later lunch and were able to park right in front of the restaurant. A big plus was the lack of a line on the sidewalk out front. Although I am familiar with Hawaiian cuisine, my friend was not, and the owner took time to explain each item on the menu to us. The patrons were a mix of locals and tourists and the decor as expected was "authentic". Overall, an excellent stop...laulau..mmmm

ono is ono(delicious) a little pricy but hawaiin food is usually pricey. the portions are big and the taste is just as the name describes it is one of the best Hawaiin food places on the island.

This local, hole-in-the-wall restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who grew up on Oahu. It was exactly as he described it - the homestyle, traditional hawaiian food was tasty and very reasonably priced (something like $14 for a combo platter that my husband and I shared). The decor was minimal - signed photographs stuck up on the wall - but this mom & pop shop is really about the delicious food and the extremely friendly and courteous owner, Poyo (sp?). He personally greeted everyone that came through the door. We had a great chat with him and he showed us how to make the sauce to use for our lau lau, which was a delicious complement to the meal. We loved the pipikalua (like jerky) laulau (ti-leaf wrapped steamed packets filled chunks of pork), the kalua pig and the haupia (coconut pudding). We've been told that there is usually a line out the door (we went very early evening on a rainy day, so had no problem getting in). It's also BYOB.

Ono = Delicious
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/14/09
Always a first stop to eat when back on the rock. Ono is a clean, one a kind restaurant that offers authentic home made cuisine of the islands. The menu is vast, the staff is wonderful, the prices are right, and the food is to die for. When in Hawaii eat like the Hawaiians! Eat at Ono Foods for a true taste of the Islands. Grind'em dakine!

Another real local winner. Go for the Hwaiian food not anything else...especially not the plastic/vinyl seats or the wait outsde on Kapahulu ave. Bring your own, come from the beach (no beer go across to 711) and enjoy. VERY LOCAL but again on the visitor map now. Go early casue they close at 8 pm.
