Exceptional experience, perhaps the meal of a lifetime where Paris or NY gourmet meets the Hawaiin sunset. Wines are fantastic and fairly priced and the complimentary welcome glass of champange is a nice touch. Breads, such a small touch, but so well done you will never forget them.

A big dissapointment. The choucroute was plain lousy, no ice was offered for the water, the wines are overpriced, and the waiter unilaterally changed our bill to increase his tip above 20%. If you have A LOT of money to throw around, it might be O.K., but normal people should avoid this rip-off. If this review (and many others here) does not dissuade you, remember the "collared-shirt" in the summer requirement.

where is the sunset that was advertised? service was impeccable. Price fix menu was way overpriced. beware of small print for add on costs. save for very special occasions.

Service outstanding. Anticipating an outstanding dining experience resulted in a very expensive disappointment. Dined on a Sunday evening perhaps the head chef had the night off. We ordered the 4 course dinner & all, except the cheeses, were lacking. Sauces were average & there wasn't 1 course that was savored & memorable. When making reservations they do not let you know that certain selections aren't available after 9:00pm. Go elsewhere.

My wife and were very disappointed by the tasteless food and astronomical prices. We had 2 appetizers and two entrees, no drinks, and the bill was $180 plus a tip.I The snail appetizer featured over-cooked snails, one pushed into a zucchini, that was broiled on one side and raw on the other. The bed of sauerkraut on which my sea bass sat was tasteless. Of Honolulu's best restaurants, this had the worst food and highest prices. My last trip there.

I think the jacket policy for men sucks. Most men will take it off as soon as seated. The food was great along with the service. Its best to bring your own wine or champagne and pay the corkage fee. We had the 2 course dessert menu which as amazing. We paid the $90 price tag. We expect as much since it is a 5 diamond restaurant

La Mer has surprised me each time I have enjoyed its...everything. It really is placed next to heaven (the beach at Waikiki). The service has gone over and beyond the call of duty. (Alone and hungry, I didn't have a jacket. The one they gave me had a price tag on it. Solution? Remove the tag and place the jacket on the chair. I felt comfortable and welcome). I have returned when i can (don't live in Honolulu), but thanks La Mer.

An excellent atmosphere, wine list and superior service was tarnished by the food which left much to be desired. My wife and I both selected the 7-8 course Degustation. While the presentation was extraordinary, the food lacked flavor and was overall quite bland and without distinction. We've enjoyed the french cuisine of Alex Stratta (Renoir) and Hubert Keller (Fleur de Lys) to name a few. La Mer is not in the same class.
