Rainbow Drive-In, Honolulu

I visited my daughter in July '08 and before I Visited I looked up places to eat online. Rainbow Drive-In was listed and as it wasn't too far from where my daughter lives, I decided to try it. I was very pleasantly surprised at both the amount and the price of the food. And by the way the food tasted great!!! After the first visit I walked wach morning (about 1 1/4 miles) to get breakfast. After eating I was sure happy that I had the 1 1/4 mile walk back to my daughter's home. (too much food) I loved the French toast in the morning and the mixed plate with the Teriyaki sauce was awesome for lunch. This is a no frills place with a walk up counter and limited outdoor seating, but well worth your time to visit.

Have been coming to Rainbows for decades. Always excellent. Chili Rice plate is wonderful. The best on Oahu. No contest and no comparison to the francised place down the street and all over the island. Worth the drive. Hard to find parking but worth the hunt. Hope they stay in business for many more years!

You get exactly what they advertise. They answer your questions directly and exactly. They are friendly as anyone could ask for. The place is very clean. The food is great, great value, great taste and great portions and if you like it hot try the Hawaiian hot sauce, it will sneak up on you. Not a fancy eatery and they don't want to be, they've just got it together and it shows. If you want a goooood meal give them a try.

Their food is one of the best in Hawaii. It is not all about fancy dancy and not about presentation. It is about food. When you are eating a mixed plate and diving thru the Gravy, you are focused on the other items on the plate. You don't have the time to lift your head to look around. The food is that good!. The price is afordable and you will never tire of the itme on the menu.

This was my first trip to Hawaii and I don't normally eat at places like these but I was starving. Now I can't wait to go back!!! The people were EXTREMELY friendly, the food was delicious. Since my trip to Hawaii, I've eaten at many of the Hawaiian restaurants here on the mainland and let me tell you, they don't even compare!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK JUST TO EAT AT RAINBOW'S!!!!!!

You get a good sized plate lunch for a decent price. I like the feel of an old drive in setting where you can chill out and eat in your beach clothes, work clothes or whatever clothes you have on. The hamburger steak plate is onolicios. Go find out for yourself. Been eating there since I was a keiki.

When I was a kid i remember going to Rainbow Drive-In after a long day at the beach. My most favorite meal was the Mixed Plate with teriyaki sauce on the rice. It was awesome!! And to top it off, a coke float. Mmmm. I still go back there and have the same things, the only thing different now is that i take my children so they can make their own memories.

Then this is definitely the place to go! Massive amounts of food for super cheap- and it's yummy! I highly recommend the mixed plate.
