Rainbow Drive-In, Honolulu

This place is AWESOME!!!! Really good Hawaiian food for a fantastic price. Totally better than all the overhyped touristy places. Love the loco moco - soo good. Found this place walking from my favorite shave ice place (Waiola) and it was a great decision to stop by here.

I visited my daughter in July '08 and before I Visited I looked up places to eat online. Rainbow Drive-In was listed and as it wasn't too far from where my daughter lives, I decided to try it. I was very pleasantly surprised at both the amount and the price of the food. And by the way the food tasted great!!! After the first visit I walked wach morning (about 1 1/4 miles) to get breakfast. After eating I was sure happy that I had the 1 1/4 mile walk back to my daughter's home. (too much food) I loved the French toast in the morning and the mixed plate with the Teriyaki sauce was awesome for lunch. This is a no frills place with a walk up counter and limited outdoor seating, but well worth your time to visit.

if youre a local and someone asks you a good place to eat some good local plate lunch and youre in the area you will probably say rainbow drive in. CHOKE food, pretty good deals, hamburger steak, mac salad, any kine ono kine grindz. DO IT!

Rainbows has, arguably, the best loco moco in Hawaii. They also have a good assortment of plate lunches, but their loco moco is a must eat in Hawaii.

Great food, very reasonable. A local recommended the place to us and we ate there several times during our two week stay. Excellent mahi mahi and grilled ahi.

If you want a true taste of Hawaii, get a plate lunch at the Rainbow Drive Inn. Also, get a Malasada at Leonard's. Awesome

Rainbow's has the BEST homemade cornbeef hash ever! I make sure I have a hash and egg plate (with gravy all over) every time we are in Honolulu. MYR

Have been coming to Rainbows for decades. Always excellent. Chili Rice plate is wonderful. The best on Oahu. No contest and no comparison to the francised place down the street and all over the island. Worth the drive. Hard to find parking but worth the hunt. Hope they stay in business for many more years!

One of the local's favorite take out lunch stops. The plate lunches are big size portions for the dollar. Rainbow's is cash only. They have parking and an ATM. The Mahi Mahi plate lunch is the local favorite with two scoops of sticky rice and a scoop of mac salad.
