My hubby and I have hit rough seas here lately, so when a good friend decided to treat us to dinner, we thought we'd give it a go. It had been a long time since we had been anywhere alone together. He's very wary of leaving the twins with a babysitter, as am I, to a point. At any rate, another good friend of mine offered to watch the kids, and we were off.
Sergio's in the Hilton Hawaiian Village was one of the, no THE, most romantic restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of going to. My friend asked to have one of the best tables there reserved for us. It was right by the windows, overlooking the lagoon. We got there at 6pm in time to watch the sunset on the ocean. Right before dark set in, candles were lit. The atmosphere was great. The booth we were sitting in had a very high back, so that we couldn't see any other diners. We were forced to look at each other. It was just what we needed.
The service was incredible! Our waiter was very attentive and polite. Not at all cheesy and absent-minded like the ones we usually get elsewhere. And the food. Oh my God! Everything was so delicious! My husband had a lasagna that just melted in your mouth, and I had a delectible garlic shrimp pasta that was prepared tableside.
That night, we were treated to our meal, but if I were paying, I do think I would've found Sergio's a bit pricy. But, everything considered, our night there was the most delicious, fun, romantic, and so many other adjectives ever!
The new menu is wonderful. They have so much stuff that you can't find anywhere else and it's done right. It's not the typical Italian restaurant. I really enjoy it. The wine list, especially for good wine pairings is great. Most people don't think of Sergio's which is fine by me. Sergio's is this tucked away little gem that only the people who really know good food and wine will visit. The happy hour is great for cheap but very good drinks and pupu's.
I'm a huge fan of Sergio's. I refer my wedding parties and guest there all the time! The restaurant and the chef have won so many awards including best new restaurant, Iron Chef Hawaii, Taste of Elegance. They even got some award for the restaurants design or renovation. Anyways, when they first opened the restaurant was lacking but over the last twelve months it has done a complete 180! The service is incrediable, the new chef has completely revived the menu and a huge wine list! They have these wonderful high back booths that create an intimate place for couples, views of the lagoon, a private dining area and a vip area. The Happy Hour they have is the best deal in all of Waikiki. It's great Italian food. I love them!
