Duke's Canoe Club Waikiki, Honolulu

My wife and I ate at Dukes on three occasions on a 6 day trip to waikiki. Best burgers and fries period, and the meal was cheaper than subway in waikiki. Drinks are great but strong. The main restaurant has tables with beautiful views, but we preferred being nearly in the sand, so we ate bar menu which is considerably cheaper than their main menu if that what you are looking for. Mai tai's are great but I loved the tropical itches myself. Service was above and beyond, you were waited on by the staff, not one server. You would be checked on by at least three different servers and possibly the manager per visit. The best service I have ever had. Live music, great atmosphere, beach mere feet away, and we watched the sunset from our table. Restaurant does shut down to set up from lunch to dinner for an hour, but they work hard to accomodate, even recommending the restaurant above it if you are unable to wait the hour.

Certainly one of the finest restaurants in Waikiki but because of that the wait for your table can be substantial. Shared a wonderful meal there a few weeks ago but waited almost an hour for a table. So plan to spend the entire evening because you will not get in and out quickly. The barefoot bar is a good place to hangout while you wait but even then finding a seat is tough. If your taste runs to a romantic quiet evening on a weekend night this location is not for you. If you want to spend an enjoyable social evening chatting, eating and drinking with friends this is certainly the place. Overall it was GREAT! Get a Duke's T-shirt while you are there too... :-)

Good food reasonably priced with a beach view

Dukes breakfast was the highlight of each morning we went. Food is great, service was better. Never felt rushed. Aesthetically one of the most beautiful restaurants we have ever been.

Strictly a tourist trap. I have had better fish in the mid-west. The best feature of this place is it's location. Good views. Have drinks then move on to someplace else for dinner. The pool side bar at the Marriott has much better food, despite it's limited menu. Try Michelle's (great sunsets and food) or Roy's.

Duke's salad bar is nice. Their fish is way overcooked and a bit greasy. Coconut shrimp, excellent. Would go back just for the salad bar. It's a teensy bit loud as there are always drunks shouting outside, but it's easy to overlook since you are right on the beach.

What a fantastic place! Nice atmosphere fantastic food and reasonable prices. Salad bar great and red snapper wonderful! This place was everything I wanted Hawaii to be.

I knew nothing about this place prior to going there. we were staying at Outrigger on Wikiki Beach and Dukes was the restaurant at the lower lobby. We stopped in for drinks, the Hawaiian Island Ice Tea was the best. try it, guarantee you'll love it. We stayed for dinner. It was excellent and prices were reasonable. Enjoy!
