Wrangler's Steakhouse

Description

Located about 40 minutes from Lihue, this steakhouse is one of the fancier eating spots on Kauai's West Side. The restaurant offers a lot of country style in a casual setting. Since it's not hard to find, it has become a local landmark. Not many tourists end up here for dinner, but the locals come to enjoy some of the freshest fish and tastiest steaks in the area. The simple menu offers typical surf and turf dishes with an optional salad bar. There is lots of free parking along the highway or near the entrance. - Lottie Tagupa

The steak was very good. the salad bar? useless=5 items, was told it was complementary, good thing. The hostess seated me well, the sugar oozed off of her. Turn off to me. The waitperson was ok. Time to check out? Had to go to the front counter. All in all, if you are after a cut of meat, good choice! Trying to impress someone? Go elsewhere.

Ate at Wrangler's in Waimea for dinner. It is a nice, small steakhouse. The menu is limited but tasty. It was a bit pricy but not as bad so as the ritzy places in Poipu and Princeville! We had the teriyaki steak and lamb chops. Both were juicy and fatty, I loved it! The salad bar was minimal but had local produce (edamame, bean sprouts, pickled turnips).

This is a real diamond in the rough. We found this wonderful place on our way back from Waimea Canyon! Food was fantastic, service was great, and selection was superb. There were four of us and we all had truly marvelous meals. Friendly people in a great location- not your typical steakhouse with much much more than steak!

Casual atmosphere in the little town of Waimea. Limited little soup/salad bar came with lunch, not enough to order as a separate meal. Our party of 8 sat outside on a big round table. We were intermittently bothered by flies, but not enough to ruin the meal. Good selections of sandwiches and entrees, all prepared well, at good prices. Service was friendly and attentive. We saw lots of locals eating here.

Good Steaks
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/1/08
We ate here for lunch and enjoyed the paniolo (cowboy) cuisine. The steak was very good, as was the fish and chips. We ate outside and enjoyed the decor both inside and out.

Good to be back home
By lee, 1/15/07
Although I go back home to visit, this was my first time I ate at Wrangler's Steakhouse. The food was great and the service was wonderful. Nothing like the "Hawaiian Hospitality". When I go home again, I hope to eat there and invite my friends from the mainland, too!!! Aloha

Loved this place!

While waiting for a table, we enjoyed browsing the rooms full of items to purchase - from food items & coffee to decorative items to handmade quilts. You could choose to eat on the porch or main dining room. There was also a private dining area for groups. We thought the menu was great as well the food. Our favorite part of dinner is dessert and oh my, what a delicious selection! The owner goes above and beyond the call of duty to please her guests. We'd definitely come back her on a future visit!

Not what we were expecting
By anthony, 8/14/05
We were expecting something good, this wasn't. The way overpriced steak came out on a plate by itself, no sides or anything, with tons of fat on it. Just wasn't good, and Michelle's meal wasn't good either, I think it was the chicken.

way too overpriced!!!
By michelle, 8/14/05
We liked the fact that Wranglers was close to our house but quickly were turned off as soon as we opened the menu. 25-30 dollars for a steak that was flavorless and tough. We don't mind spending money on a good steak but this was not worth it at all. they did have a 'salad bar' but that was lacking too. One salad type and a soup that tasted like it was made with lefovers. I wish I could say it was better because I love a good steak but sorry.
