Shrimp Station

Description

Cheery, bright and inviting, this roadside shrimp stand is getting all kinds of attention from island visitors coming and going to the beautiful Waimea Canyon. The eatery is simple, situated near the turn up the hill to Kokee. It's situated in an old-style wooden building with a covered patio filled with tables and chairs where you can enjoy fresh shrimp from the take-out window. The menu is quite simple: shrimp on a paper plate done spicy, scampi or deep fried. The prices are reasonable and the parking is free. It's the perfect on-the-fly stop during a full day of fun on Kauai. - Lottie Tagupa

The Shrimp Station is delicious place in Kauai. I love "Got Garlic". It's creamy and tasty. We got 3 plates, "Cajun Shrimp" and "Thai Shripm" also. Thai one is very spycy hot hotter hottest!!! :) If you want to make "HOT", you should eat Thai one.

Great roadside shrimp shack. Nice people, delicious food. Always seems crowded with many locals... get the hint? GOOD FOOD. Prices were fair. The shrimp tacos were big, slightly spicy, full of delicious shrimp. "Da Best!".I'd stop any time I'm in Waimea.

A small hole-in-the wall food stand. They only have shrimp- grilled, fried, tacos, burritos. I got the sweet chili sauce shrimp and fries. The shrimp was very tasty and rich. They ran out of rice so I got fries. That was a bit rich. I recommend having the rice or boiled potatoes with the grilled shrimp, probably a better balance. They only take cash so be prepared. Very good and affordable!

We shared plates of coconut shrimp and Thai chili-lemongrass shrimp, both of which were excellent-this has to be the definitive coconut shrimp, which is often dry and devoid of shrimp flavor. It was pouring rain like no tomorrow, and most of the outdoor picnic tables were unusable therefore, but sharing a dry one wasn't any issue. Absolutely a great example of the best in road food. A must stop on the way to Waimea Canyon.

Stop here after visiting Waimea Canyon!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/1/08
Favorite stop for locals - and conveniently located at the start/end of the drive up to Waimea Canyon. The fried shrimp was fresh and well prepared. It came very quickly after we ordered. It was reasonably priced for a Hawaiiam meal.

It isn't much to look at but what do you expect for counter service. The food is amazing.

Great tasting shrimp plates - all to go, but they have a few tables and chairs to sit at. You order at one window and pick up at the other; spicy shrimp, garlic shrimp, shrimp tacos. Scoop of rice and plenty paper towels. A must-stop on the way to or from Waimea Canyon or Polihale.
