Assaggio Mililani, Honolulu

So we made reservations for 7:30 one Saturday night, we arrived at 7:20 and waited about 20 min to get seated. Then we saw the menu, a bit expensive, but surely the food will be worth it. Nope. The food was average, nothing spectacular and not worth what we were paying for it. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't horrible, but not worth another visit for me.

Upscale atmosphere but the food is just so so.

What's the hoopla about? The pasta is good enough, or did I not find out yet the best dish they have? I love a good eggplant parmigiana and I rate a good Italian restaurant with how they make theirs because it's simple but the trick to keeping a good eggplant better tasting at the end is complex. I think theirs is plain good.

It started the minute we walked through the door. The Hostes was not at her desk but when she returned not a hint of acknowledgment that we were standing there, she picked up the phone and made the reservation for another. no apology's, no thank you for waiting just yes. When we were seated or waiter was Ryan (I don't think he wanted to be their). We saw him once when he took our order and that was it. We had a Bus boy that gave us water and asked us if we wanted more bread he did bring out the bread but we had to ask for more butter that never came. Where I was sitting I could see everything and what I was seeing I did not like. The Bus boys grandparents came in to have lunch and lo and behold they had very good service. The shinning point was when a waitress from the other tables came to see if we were okay and if she could get us anything her name was Victoria. She was very polite and pleasant but even she could not erase the experience that I was given. I needed to leave this horid place so we asked victoria if we could get our food to go. I will never go back to this place because of the service that was provided and I will tell everyone that will listen. I had the pork chop and pasta and my husband had the Lasagna. The pork chop was dry and the vegatables was burnt. Thank you for nothing.

If you like garlic and olive oil, this place is for you. The service is execellent and the price is very reasonable. I like this place and go when I want a good meal close to home.
