SAD LOBBY
By ,
IM SAD TO SAY THAT I WASNT THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE FELT THIS WAY. I OVER HERD A FEW GUEST COMPLAINING ON HOW HOT IT WAS IN THE MAIN LOBBY. FOR ONE THAT IS WHERE FIRST IMPRESSIONS START AND ON MINE IT WAS VERY SAD TO SAY WASNT A GOOD ONE. HERE WE ARE COMING FROM THE AIRPORT AND IT IS A VERY NICE HOT PLACE BUT TRYING TO HURRY AND GET TO OUR HOTEL SO WE COULD RELAXE AFTER THE LONG TRIP AND YOU WALK IN A LOBBY THAT FEELS JUST AS BAD AS IT DOES OUT SIDE. YOU WOULD THINK THAT WHILE YOU ARE WAITING TO BE SERVED THAT YOU WOULD AT LEAST HAVE A COOL COMFORTABLE PLACE TO SIT OR WAIT AND THEN YOU WALK IN TO A HOTEL THAT FEELS AS IF YOU NEVER CAME IN. IT DIDNT EVEN HAVE NONE WHAT SO EVER AIR CONDITIONING IN THE MAIN LOBBY. TO TOP IT OFF IT ALSO SHARES ITS DINNING ROOM IN THE SAME BUILDING AND YOU CANT FEEL COOL OR RELAXING WHILE YOU ARE EATING. UNLESS YOU GO OUT SIDE OF THE LANAI. I DONT WANT TO GO AND EAT SOMEWHERE THAT IS HOT AND THEN GET ALL STICKY. TO BE HONEST AS IF THEY WERE TRYING TO COSERVE ENERGY. DOWN STAIRS THERE IS A GOLF SHOP AND THEY HAD AIR CONDITIONING, BUT WHERE IT MOST COUNT WAS JUST A SAD GREETING IF YOU ASK ME. EVEN THE WORKERS THERE LOOKED VERY IRRITATED BY THE HEAT. AND HOW CAN THEY GREET US WITH A FEELING OF ENJOYMENT WHEN THEY THEMSELVES WERE HOT AND STICKY AS I WAS. YOU WOULD THINK THAT IT WOULD BE THE MOST IMPORTANT PLACE TO MEET SOMEONE FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME COMING FROM A LONG FAR AWAY PLACE THAT SHOULD BE ON TOP OF THINGS AND MOST OF ALL COMFORTABLE. BUT IT WASNT! IT WAS TOO HOT TO STAY IN THERE TOO LONG. I THINK THEY NEED TO GET TOGETHER AND FIGURE OUT THAT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN RUNNING A HOTEL IS THE GUEST! AND THE COMFORT. AFTER WE WHERE CHECKED IN AND WENT TO OUR ROOM WE NOTICED THAT OUR ROOM WAS A BETTER PLACE TO BE THEN UP IN THE LOBBY WHERE WE DIDNT GET THE CHANCE TO ENJOYING THE FACT TAHT WE ARE IN HAWAII. IT WAS WAY COOLER AND MOST RELAXING. I HOPE THAT THEY REVIEW OUR COMMENTS AND TRY AND UNDRESTAND THAT WE RE THE GUEST AND NEED TO BE MORE COMFORTABLE ENTERING THE HOTEL ITS SELF. PLEASE IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND MAYBE A SOMEONE TAHT MAKES A DIFFRENCE COULD YOU PLEASE INFORM THEM THAT THE LOBBY AREA WAS TOO HOT AND NOTHING ELSE TO DO. ALOHA, CANADA

We will never go back to this resort
By ,
The location was bad. You had to walk from the lobby to the room. It was service but you feel you have to always give a tip when your drop off at your room. The second night at the resort there was no hot water for the remaining of our stay. I had to go to another room todays in a room just to take a shower. And I was told maintains does not come on duty until 9a and it was already 6m. The food was horrible and service wasnt good. Enjoyed the trip in it self good thing for rent a car and other places to visit. I will never go to this resort again, but will go Hawaii a couple more time in a life time. Going to the Beaches was excellent.

This was our first trip to Hawaii and we absolutely had a wonderful time. The resort was very nice. We loved our room and lanai. It was so beautiful and had such relaxed atmosphere. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone especially if you want to relax and enjoy the beautiful mountains and beach. The staff was wonderful and eager to please you. We will go back and hopefully stay there. Try it you will thoroughly enjoy Makaha Golf Resort. Ted & Nonnie Laux Missouri

Great place to stay!!!!
By ,
Makaha Resort is out of the way, QUIET place to stay. The staff is outstanding and very helpfull. The location is a couple of miles from the ocean but it can be seen from the resort but the mountians more than make up for the lack of beachfrontage. You need a car to see the other activities on the island, but that is OK, they don't charge you to park. If you want night clubs and close in things to do, stay downtown (with all the noise). If a relaxing vacation is what you are looking for this Resort can not be beat. Had a great time and we are making plans to go back again. One thing you do have to walk up and down which is good, it helps you keep your weight down as you enjoy all the island food!!!

We travel to Oahu about 4 times a year. Yes it is an older resort, but its quiet, the people who work there go out of their way to make you confortable. How about the area the homeless people live. Could you think of a more beautiful place. There are plenty of areas to go and enjoy the beaches. I love the drive, it takes you away from the crowds. I have always loved staying here and will continue to. You must look further then a bed or a few bugs. I think if you want a beautiful, quiet, and welcoming place, not close to all the action, then you will find Makaha perfect. If you want total elagance, people, shiney and new then stay on the other side of the island. PCV

Quiet place to stay.
By ,
We spent a week at the resort and enjoyed our stay. Our room was very clean and spacious but could have used some updating. The grounds are very nice. You must rent a car to stay at this hotel because it is miles from everything - including the beach. The pool was beautiful, the golf course was great and the breakfast buffet was very good. Other meals were a bit disappointing - very standard fare nothing special. It is a 40 minute drive to Honolulu and a 5 minute drive to the beach. The beach is beautiful but not for the faint of heart. Parts of it are fine but sections of it have very big waves with strong undertow - fantastic for surfing or for watching surfing! Waianea is an economically depressed part of Hawaii and so there isn't much shopping. The security guard at the local grocery store thanked us for shopping there as most tourists avoid the local stores and go to Ko Olina or Honolulu. This resort really is quite literally at the end of the road so if you want a quiet, relaxing golf vacation in Hawaii this is a great place to go.

we loved the secluision but the beaches were, over run by homeless people and this took away from the overall veiw of the trip.we probably will not return since the resort is so far away from every thing and the trafic is terrible. we loved the resturant and the staff of the resort went out of their way to see that all of our needswere taken care of.very friendlyand professional. aloha and mahalo from north carolina.
