Diego's Taco Shop, Pearl City

I missed Mexican food, being from Texas, and Cholo's didn't do it for me. Diego's looks like a little hole in the wall place but it is so AMAZING. My boyfriend took me here and I was skeptical, the staff is so nice and easy to talk to, and I come here whenever I need my mexican food fix. I can't wait to go back!

Wonderful food! Quick and inexpensive too! It is a few find on Hawaii that makes real Mexican food and not this Taco Bell like stuff.

The real deal: The food is pretty close to authentic Mexican. I spent a lot of time in lower California (Baja California, Mexico). Diego's is fast food and nothing fancy, but pretty tasty lunch. Service is fast and friendly. I really enjoy the shredded beef tacos and I can't seem to get past that meal choice when ordering. You get two tacos, rice and beans and a drink for around $5

The ambiance definitely reminded me of the little Mexican shops in San Diego. I wasn't impressed with the food at all. I was expecting lettuce, tomato, and cheese with my taco combo and only recieved cilantro and sour cream. Overall, the food was bland. I do have to admit the pico de gallo was delicious though. My husband ordered the #4 combo; he loved it. I had a taste and the carne asada steak was oily and unflavorful. In my own opinion, I rather head to taco del mar here in Hawaii or the small taco shop in san diego near the naval base.

I stopped for what is usually a no miss item. A breakfast burrito. Simple thing. Big flour tortilla rolled around scrambled eggs, bacon and (on request) a slattering of beans. You cant really miss with those ingredients but the eggs were runny and their only salsa bland. I asked for and suggested they should put potato (cut up french fries would do) in the burrito but the counter girl just stared at me. Overall Ok but it would be so easy to be so much better. Aloha.

My family and I have gone there and really don't care for the service of food. It's expensive for the portion of food they give you. This is the first place that WILL NOT give the rice and beans for an order of burrito. As for the food I've had spices that taste better from Taco Bell.

I always would see this place as I was passing by to go somewhere else. Finally I suggested to my husband to go there. The food was great. I had a Carne Asada Burrito and my husband had the Chicken Enchiladas and some chips with steak. He wasn't too keen about the Enchiladas, but the rest was great. The cashier was really nice and the restaraunt reminded me of the small Mexican Fast Food restaraunts we have out in California. Overall, the food was great and would definately recommend it.
